Now that the dust has settled, was this a good depiction of superman?
Now that the dust has settled, was this a good depiction of superman?
Cavil was decent and has been good in other stuff. The writing and characterization is dreadful.
Even Hancock was a better Superman.
broods on rooftops like Batman
widow's peak hair
basketball textured suit
British actor
"it's not an S"
no red shorts
No way.
Works well for an elseworld Superman born into a hopeless world and raised by people who were more scared of the consequences rather than helping him become a hero.
Does not work as the main image of Superman and the icon who will represent your cinematic universe.
Everything past the original Donner film has been a complete lack of imagination and poor writing.
Even the second Donner film was going to resolve by turning time backwards again.
They've regurgitated the same 3 plots across 8 movies, and Superman just keeps getting schmuckier and schmuckier.
Works well for an elseworld Superman
Even treated as an Elseworld (and all movies are Elseworlds), it doesn't have consistent tone, themes or story beats.
Great casting. Good wardrobe... but terrible script and that courthouse scene was stupid because real Superman would have easily saved everyone in the room as the explosion was going off.
Yup, Cavill was screwed and they wasted him. Bad writing and mediocre director too concerned with making everything DARKEDGE instead of realizing the character is literally about hope and lightness and fun and responsibility.
Great casting.
How? There are hundreds of actors they could jam into that muscle suit, and at least half of them could exude more charisma. He doesn't particularly have a Superman look. He not very good in most movies, he's been a good secondary character in a couple.
He is the definition of not-great casting.
I really don't get why everyone is so gay for Cavill. And no I don't accept
But he's a real nerd
as an answer.
No.
not really; the writing and direction really stifle the portrayal
People have been saying this for years but writers have consistently made Superman (and other characters) nerfed in scenarios to favor the plot. If these characters were accurate in their power levels all the time, most stories would have no conflict.
Hell, none of the destruction we already see in the new superman movie shouldn't exist if they adhered to Superman being able to do Speed Force level feats like he is "supposed" to be able to do
Not at all. He's barely a character, closer to an action figure with zero personality or personal agency.
Supporting cast doesn't matter after the first film
The most screentime he got was in MoS
Brooding and moping almost every time he's one screen
Was meant to be cucked by Bruce and fall for Darkseid's shit. No MoS 2.
I'm glad Rebel Moon bombed. Snyder is a fucking garbage director.
Cavill has very British teeth and I feel like Superman should have good dentition.
he's the best Superman if you have never seen any other Superman, which is sometimes the case with third worlders and zoomers
Bro, he's a strong jawed, buff nerd, what more do you want for a Superman actor?
very British teeth
You mean 5th healthiest in the world? Also he isn't British. He was born in Jersey.
The ability to fucking act and display emotion.
Cavill isn't a good actor, but Snyder's shitty directing of him made him worse because he has charisma and Snyder drained it out of him
People have just been waking up in Mumbai
what a shit show this thread will become
Most of Snyder's fans are indians so
Fake muscles and washed out colors look terrible
His hair and suit were much better in MoS
We were promised he'd grow into the real Superman and never did
Fake muscles
You're retarded.
When Snyder was auditioning for Superman all the actors had to put on Cristopher Reeve's famously un-padded superman costume, walk into the room and deliver some lines. Cavill was the only one who filled out the suit and gave off the Superman aura.
I think he did the best with what he was given to work with
Snyderverse shouldve just been a bunch of Elseworlds comics
no
Nope. Lifeless performance in lifeless movies.
Man of Steal was like, Sci Fi original movie levels of writing. The DCU has been almost exclusively shit from the word go. This wasn't just a bad depiction of Superman, it was a TERRIBLE one.
*DCEU
no,Supes is not supposed to be a bitter asshole
The fact that we're even talking about him more than we're talking about the new Superman should tell you that he is.
This scene always makes me laugh
Cavill was the only one who filled out the suit and gave off the Superman aura.
Reminder that THIS is what they thought had the "Flash" aura.
WB took what they could get, because anything that wasn't Batman was career-destroying.
He was the best, but the mouth-breathing masses couldn't comprehend it.
Whenever there's a warm-hearted moment for Cavillman, its only in MoS, and he has a super-villain smile because Cavill is only good at playing morally dubious men.
Isn't clever, can only manhandle Zod helplessly while his laser slowly went towards a family.
Is directed to be an emotionless stone man every moment of BvS because, like, he is gripped with self-doubt.
Seemingly was only going to help stop Steppenwolf and then become a brainwashed actual cuck that confirms Batman's nightmare sequence.
This is one of the worst interpretations of Superman I've seen.
anything that wasn't Batman was career-destroying
It's an interpretation of the character, that's for sure. But if they were trying to capture the essence of the character as he appeared in the comics, shows, or previous movies, then they failed miserably. But I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to that, their goal was to "reinvent" the character for (what they perceive to be) cynical modern audiences.
t.
There are several negative things to mention and basically zero positive things that hadn't been done better before except for action sequences
Low IQ people will just think about his looks and action sequences, probably
The type of person who likes Dragon Ball Z is the same type of person into Man of Steel.
was this a good depiction of superman?
Cavill WAS Superman. Body, mind and soul.
saar please support snyderverse saar
He looks like such a goon. Like a big, dumb mafia bodyguard in a gangster film.
