Because SU is written by people whose only interactions is typing to each other online. That's why all the conversations and reactions feel slightly "off" in this show.

Just rename it to "Pink Diamond fan club" at that point, I don't think Peridot being redeemed is the worst idea ever but she was definitely incompatible with the CGs.

I think the story would have been a lot more interesting if for example other Peridots started rebelling against Homeworld and Peridot formed her own clan of rebel Peridots, it would have been interesting seeing how smart engineers would take on the Homeworld army

If she did that then the CGs would be massacred for sure, she was merciful to them but only because of Steven. If Steven didn't set Peridot free in the first place then they all would have died anyway since the CGs are too stupid to know you're supposed to interrogate an enemy when you've captured them
