I say go for it if it's something you really want. There was one creative director I worked under that retired from being an electrician in his 50's then went into animation. It just has to be something that you want. I say work to get more into the craft. Projects, internet projects, anything that will get you through the full process that goes into an animation. Then try again and run a pilot to garner interest. If it goes well great, if not try again and keep getting better and more efficient.

Either way just go for it rather than making a thread asking if you should.
