I've always hated Romita jr and Ramos.
Part of me always feels at least somewhat bad for legacy artists. Especially guys like Romita. That's gotta be like being fucking Michael Jordan's kid. You're never topping that legacy. But even that removed JRJR is just not good. Like the Kubert Kids aren't their dad either but Andy and Adam were at least solid.

Storytelling is very important to comics and Romita is good at it. Layout and finishes are two opposite ends of the workload. Romita was very often the one handling layouts because of his storytelling and compositions skills; in the house style era the ability to layout pages as fast as he could was very useful because there was a general uniformity to how the finished product would look.
His style becomes more unique in the late 80's and early 90's and he's firing on all cylinders then.

Greg Land is one of the most depressing cases in comics because he was legitimately great early on, on the road to be like Adam Hughes or Terry Dodson, but ultimately comics are thankless work and he decided to go the laziest route..because ultimately cranking out work gets him paid more than caring.
No kind of coloring is going to make OP's image, or many of JRJR's modern artistic crimes look good. Dude's just gotten sloppy.
No, JR's blocky, off-kilter figures just look bad a lot of the time.
Granted I think stuff like the OP's pic works since MJ's fake looking smile suits the panel, but his proportions get really wonky and unappealing compared to his heights in the early 90s.
He's drawn great before, but I think JRJR is too focused on making himself stand out.
I will say I hate it when the lens on Spider-Man's mask clings to his eye socket like that. It always just looks weird and makes you wonder why you don't see Peter's hair bunched up if the mask is that tight.
Concave lenses aren't exactly spider-like anyway.
No, a good coloring makes Spidey's suit look less disgusting. But he draws ugly faces and bodies, coloring wouldn't help there
