If you can't even get toddlerslop to receive good ratings, you know that cable is dead.
Cartoonito is officially dead in North America, last broadcast was yesterday
PRESS S TO SPIT ON CARTOONITO
AI is replacing cartoons. Makes sense.
Thank god. Fuck any exec pushing this shit.
No shit? Who in charge thought it was a good idea to try and compete with Nick and Disney's existing toddler blocks in the streaming age and ipad babies?
Cartoonito
Taco bell menu item?
The block's hopes died when Caillou was announced to be one of the launch shows.
Good riddance to garbage.
I don't know what this is
Cartoon Network is so dead that I have to subscribe to Hulu to watch the CN shows I like because Max ditched them. What sucks is Adult Swim doesn't have a smart TV app because they host the episodes Max doesn't have of their catalog.
Go all in turning 50% or so of Cartoon Network into preschool shit block
Flops
Toddlers don't even watch tv. CN's remaining viewers are young adult stoners.
Is it just me or is all this Cartoon Network shit becoming the late zoomer equivalent of Toys R Us getting private equity'd about 7 years ago
CN's remaining viewers are young adult stoners.
Lolno, they decided to tell that audience to go fuck themselves, CN's remaining viewers are people who forget to turn the TV off, genderspecials who think it's still the early 2010s CN, and Anon Babble types who can't let go of the past.
Thank fuck, fuck this toddler slop garbage im glad its dead for ruining CN
Piss off doomwisher
Oh, Cartoon Network was still around? Could’ve fooled me.
Toys R Us was succeeded and only failed because of getting private equity'd with other debt made for it to default on
Cartoon Network failed on its own due to failure over a decade to adjust with the realities of where animation consumption was going in the trend towards social media (namely they went all in on kiddy safe space shit when that audience all left for youtube and adults became main consumers for animation)
Cartoonito
?
Cool, who cares about this?
Do they have an app yet? It's a free to broadcast channel which would be perfect for people who don't have antennas or cable boxes.
replacing the core identity your network is known and liked for didn't work out
doing the exact opposite thing of the 2010s era of more "mature" cartoons that made CN "cool" and popular again didn't work
making a preschool block again 20 years after Tickle U failed didn't work
Who could've seen this coming? Certainly not the super duper smart executives who worked really hard to get their high paying job and are totally smarter than the average person.
Did you forget that Adult Swim exists? That's who's mostly watching CN.
Lemme guess, its getting replaced with more Gumball reruns.
CN and AS are treated as separate entities regarding viewership
so how long do I have to wait for CN to actually die?
It doesn't feel like this Zaslav gives a flying shit about the channel. If anything is sad about this situation is that somehow, I'm not sad about it, even though I used to religiously watch CN up to 2008 or so.
Coincidentally that's when they had killed off Toonami. 2009 was when CN Real was a thing and I mostly fucked off from watching the channel, barring Toonami's return.
Worse. It's more Teen Titans Go plus a half hour of New Looney Tunes in it's timeslot.
The more important question is. Who is the true America?
To be fair I think they WERE adjusting and hoping that Cartoon Network would become the babysitter channel for lazy parents specifically because it's harder to appeal to older animation fans who already fled to less constrained platforms like Youtube. It failed but there was an idea.
Finally, about fucking time. CN is still dead though.
Your right, that is what they were going for.
They were correct in that animation was heading towards only being either for toddlers at a screen 24/7 or adults.
Their flaw is they focused on the former, when the brand was historically for the later. The retards who run this company can't get past that preteens were never coming back as they ran to Youtube and that cash cow no longer exists, so they ran to the second, babies, and thinking they can prop up a service for them. Which they historically have not focused on and failed with before, so it was always going to fail.
They are now left with charred ruins after not focusing on the group who actually has watched CN since the 90s
You have shit taste, shit stirring zoomie.
Quick question, what can save CN?
Didn't we already know this was going to happen for nearly two years now? If anything it's more of a surprise it took this long. As far as I can tell it hasn't been a thing in my area for at least a year now as well. The interesting thing about this is what will happen to that Foster's show. That was supposed to be for that block and now it's got nothing.
The only thing they're missing is a Toonami style block if they want to be like the old Cartoon Network, I'd say the Latinamerica feed for the Adult Swim channel is closer to classic late 90s-early 2000s Cartoon Network than MeTV Toons, still MeTV Toons is a good channel overall aside from when they ad a "offensive content" warning before some of the old cartoons only to air the episode sightly censored anyways despite having the content warning
Better cartoons can save CN. CN needs to feel like the space for prime time cartoons like it used to, but Warner was too busy seeking fast money in the form of Teen Titans Go, so they let premium cartooning fall to the wayside.
Everyone else can tell Cartoon Network needs more cartoons on the network. It needs shows that children and adults alike would tune in to like the good ol days, but Warner will be the last to realize this.
It needs shows that children and adults alike would tune in to like the good ol days, but Warner will be the last to realize this.
It's so fucking sad isn't it?
The worst part is that even if they realized it they cannot get a good writer to pull it off, so they will probably get 6 mediocre ones that would rather turn any adult program into a narcissistic trauma dumping ground or activist soapbox.
I'm pretty sure that there are now stupid standards put in place to bloat the creative process too, which is counter productive to the creative process.
And then there's executive meddling...
I simply don't believe they can make good shows anymore, the talent and the process just isn't there.
Did they even TRY with this block? I don’t recall it getting much of anything.
It was useless anyway.
Kys jeettranny
Nothing.
They won't even put Gumball on CN in the USA and that's something.
The era for cable kids channels is over and there's nothing left but put it on autopilot to collect the fees then shut it down for AS when the time comes
MeTV Toons
BASED
This
Short answer, nothing.
I’d genuinely pay for an Adult Swim streaming app to watch without a cable subscription. I want Metalocalypse back, too
Nothing, let it go.
Yeah, they shot themselves in the foot...
Better cartoons
Considering the "Better Cartoons" that people in the industry offered when they
These guys! Hello, Michael Ouweleen! Hello, everyone! We’re going to make your network the BEST NETWORK EVEEEERRRR!
Unless you want a block that's all like Space Ghost, Jonny Quest, maybe Battle of the Planets, you're probably going to have to wait until Millennials qualify for Medicare for that. MeTV Toons is appropriate for all ages but it's specifically targeted towards boomers and Gen Xers, Toonami's lineup is too recent for them.
Course, I would watch a retro action block, but it doesn't sound like that'd interest you
(you) do.
Easy, air cartoons for everyone. air cartoons appealing to kids. air cartoons appealing to tweens. air cartoons appealing to teens. air cartoons appealing to adults. air foreign cartoons from Japan. air action cartoons. air comedy cartoons that are actually funny. air NEW cartoons.
CNs current issue is that for the past decade they've honed only on literal toddlers, they refuse to air new cartoons, they also refuse to put in ANY effort. And the only solution is to just do what they did BEFORE the last decade, yet they won't. They refuse to, and will shut out anything that has even a chance of appealing to more people off into the Adult Swim pits. MAWSM and Samurai Jack S5 could've easily been the start of a revival, throw in well recieved shows like Maomao which weren't afraid to be a bit wittier. But no, baby cartoons, hone in on toddlers who already HAVE disney, nick jr, and the million of videos on Youtube.
still MeTV Toons is a good channel overall aside from when they ad a "offensive content" warning before some of the old cartoons only to air the episode sightly censored anyways despite having the content warning
On the topic of this too, it's entirely possible that since they're an OTA channel there's shit they can't show or the FCC will get mad (The FCC can fine over content on broadcast television but not cable)
It's more likely a decision by Weigel but it's possible
I wish sometimes they would just pull some shorts instead of chopping them up, I saw a Hillbilly Bears cartoon on Toons that was made incomprehensible due to the cuts made to remove a Japanese bear, half the cartoon was cut IIRC
They're more willing to show violent gags than the Turner networks are at least, probably has to do with the aforementioned older market demographic
