I think I know why that is, if a character could just grow at an exponential rate with no limit placed on their power, then they theoretically could grow to a point they become basically omnipotent and would never lose. This is an affront to Death Battle’s point as a show where both characters HAVE to fight to the death. And if one character can grow beyond any limit regardless of placement, then the entire match would no longer matter as someone with infinite power would never die and would always win regardless. No sense of stakes. That’s why they place so much more scrutiny on guys like Asura and Hulk. Infinite potential suggests infinite power which would imply omnipotence if there is no limit. Why would Death Battle change up their own established methodologies and biases right now? I just don’t think that they’d switch things up now to be different when their track record shows otherwise.

Why does this fight even exist? No one wants Kyle to win let alone assuming they know who he is compared to other lanterns. It feels like just another one sided wash to give the more popular character’s fans appeasement just like Kratos vs Asura and Doomguy vs Chief.
On the other hand consider They love having seemingly "unbeatable" reality warping one off powers like the Life Equation in lose to more "mundane" or "simple" characters. It makes for much better pacing and narrative since it'll be the final tool that gets used and will often be the key that the winner just barely powers through with their own ultimate power or some other key facet of the fight. They really like "there was ONE tool that the winner had to look out for...but a careful examination reveals they had everything they needed to overcome it".
Also Saitama also didn't get his weird 'gets stronger as he fights' until after his episode and that wasn't really a factor in Archie Sonic so I don't know if that really applies for those, but yeah do they dislike evolution characters as well, just not as much as the above archetype

Yes but stuff like Alien X and the Infinity Gauntlet aren’t defined by their infinite potential. They’re defined by having infinite or unlimited power, if a character can grow beyond that due to their potential, then there is virtually no ceiling to whatever they can accomplish. That’s why there’s like 8 different matches where the character that can grow above and beyond any limits gets utterly shafted in a Death Battle because then they would never die, and thus lose.

You can argue that for Wally West with his Speed Force powers, but he wasn’t “evolving” past his limits, just that his speed was already at that point. Superman for instance, even with the kneecap they gave him in GvS3 where they actually gave a hard limit on the quantifiable size of his verse, was still more powerful or how they said that his speed could break through infinity and scale to Wally, they argued he had the greater speed overall against Goku.

Yes but Simon is the embodiment of the “I can become literally omnipotent if I really try hard enough” infinite potential scaling that they despise for conflicting with the entire point of their show and we already have multiple episodes where they do not buy any character’s claims to unlimited and undefined potential.

Also the winners in the "characters get stronger" matches tend to be able to fight forever and also tend to not have glaring weaknesses that their opponent can exploit via hax, like Superman or Kratos. That's not the case for Kyle

Also, with Kratos and Superman, both of them are capable of dying (Kratos literally being prophesied to die in a future installment of his game and Superman being consumed by the solar energy and burning up from the inside out).
