I have consistently felt worse every time something new about this revival comes out. First it was the announcement it'd be happening at all, and in modern times tackling modern culture. Then it was the leaks and all that entailed with the divorce, hank crying over star wars, peggy yelling fuck, etc. Then it was the absolutely miserable looking poster. Now it's the truly lifeless animation suspected for a long time.

Before watching the trailer, I thought Peggy saying fuck would be in a situation where she really loses her cool and let's it slip, but it's seemingly over nothing and her cadence is pretty calm all things considered. It just feels very out of character in it's execution and context as well probably.

It looks like your typical puppet-rigged animation (it's especially apparent in the Minh scene) though clearly care was put into framing the scenes so they aren't all lazy shots from the same perspective. Realistically it's about as good as you can expect from 2025.

The story behind Murphy is still pretty unclear but it's generally agreed that she lost an unhealthy amount of weight to try and make herself over into a Hollywood leading lady (compare her in "Clueless" to that movie she was in with Ashton Kutcher). It worked at first but she became known for erratic behavior, drugs, a marriage to a guy no one liked except her mother and who also died mysteriously shortly after she did, etc.
By the time King of the Hill ended it was almost literally her only job, though she probably could have continued to do other voice parts if she had lived.

For this KotH season though the dynamic between the characters should be different as well as a lot of the themes in the writing. It's a different show telling a similar but new story. So it feels weirder compared.
