It was an unfunny show written by bad stand-ups skimming memory alpha and helmed by a drunk whose Trek fandom amounts to writing about how Data and Geordi should kiss on twitter.
It was consistently gross, violent, and materialistic, with some material being so offensive to the Trek base that the only reason they got away with it was because no one was watching.
Worst of all they took two talented and funny and charming leads (Newsome and Quaid) and managed to crush and ounce of charisma or humor or energy they could have brought

Lower Decks started shaky but each new season was better than the last. It's some of the best Trek to come out in ages, and it successfully blended Trek with "adult animation" to create a show that is, frankly, one of the best examples of modern animation around.
It's biggest shortcoming was the short runtime and simplistic emotional plots. Also that weird macguffin ending, what the fuck did Mariner even do, set phasers to fix?
