Was Mike, Lu and Og truly a hidden gem of a cartoon as people say it was?
I've seen many people calling it a unique, one-of-a-kind show due to how mellow and "comfy" it was compared to the wackier cartoons like Ed, Edd and Eddy. Is that really true?

Not sure about "one of a kind" in general, but it was nice in the CN line-up.
Now wait for three people to call it boring.

It was certainly a show made outside the CN Studios system.

It was very mid. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't particularly good either. There's a reason it's mostly forgotten and that's because it's neither offensive nor is it engaging. Sure it has a comfy atmosphere and art style but that only goes so far when the rest of the show is so boring and lacking in the entertainment department. It's pretty much like Sheep in the Big City, Time Squad, or Robot Jones. So perfectly adequate that you need to be reminded they exist.

Was Mike, Lu and Og truly a hidden gem of a cartoon as people say it was?

No, it's ugly and one of the dullest and least funny cartoons ever made.

Sheep and Time Squad were actually good, funny shows. Robot Jones and Mike, Lu and Og were trash. The first season of KND is also pretty bad.

Sheep and time squad were hilarious.
Tap dancing Gandhi still cracks me up today.

Freud riding Revere for me

All this Time Squad slander

Compare Time Squad to Histeria! if you want to see historical humour done shitty.

Birchy?

I liked Mike as a protagonist, she was a pretty unique kind of female character. She was a bit gruff and tomboyish without going overboard and felt like cross between a 40 year old brooklyn guy and a cute girl.
I didn't really like anyone else though. Lu was a fairly one-dimensional bratty girl archetype, Og was kinda interesting with the inventor angle but it never felt like he got to show much personality, and the other tribesmen were just kinda "there".

It had a nice artstyle and a funny setting, sure it didn't made you laught outloud but it wasn't trying to.

I'm more confused by the sheep in the big city complaints.
The wordplay on that show was hilarious.

It's true. Was a comfy show to have on early in the morning as a kid. The music played a big role in that. It wasn't my favorite cartoon or anything, but I didn't mind having it on.

The show was good enough to have a contest to a resort in NA and LA.
That is something, also the show had 2 seasons which is a good run for its time.

Hidden? Yes.

Gem? That's a matter of preference

You know how people say children deserve better shows? this was the better show

Sheep in the Big City

The shorts were the best part of it. Like the Ranting Swede and the Shrimpola Cola shit.

Time Squad

Yeah, the show could have done its premise a lot better by ironically being more historically accurate to highlight how messed up the history fuckups were, shit like prankster Lincoln, wrestler Beethoven, children's writer Edgar Allen Poe, and Big Al was still hilarious. And I still find the episode where they fuck up by killing that fly in prehistoric times was one of the times the show got to properly dig into its premise better.

Robot Jones

Shockingly only ever saw two episodes of that, the pilot and the one where he got a virus. You could not imagine my surprise that show actually had a series, which I don't know if it speaks to how mid the series was or if I somehow kept missing it against all odds.

The first season of KND is also pretty bad.

I disagree, KND felt at its best before all the "global organization" shit kicked in.

Yeah, the show could have done its premise a lot better by ironically being more historically accurate to highlight how messed up the history fuckups were

That sounds pretty stiffling writing-wise.

See thread, get nostalgic for Time Squad

Look up the series, mostly shitty quality available but watcheable

Discover the series has long since been adopted by the alphabet crowd who consider Buck and Larry a legitimate gay couple.

We truly live in the worst timeline.

i'm gonna tell robot you guys are talking shit and he'll find your ip addresses and terminate you all

Time Squad ain't got Big Fat Baby.

What do you think Tuddrussel's for?

That sounds pretty stiffling writing-wise.

Not really thinking anything complex, just a brief showcase of who the figure is historically BEFORE we're introduced to how fucky things have gotten. Like the prelude to the Dishonest Abe episode. Or just have more episodes focused on the time travel jokes itself, like going back to fix a case they'd previously messed up or something.

Why is it so obvious it's the same guy making these threads?

It’s just kinda boring. I like the vibes sometimes and Mike is cute but it’s kinda just a timewaster to watch.

It was so fucking boring and they all had annoying voices, especially Mike. I have no idea how this got greenlit in the first place, same with Time Squad

Sheep in the Big City

Holy fuck this and Uncle Grandpa, the most boring and stupid cartoons ever made besides Mike lu and og

Mike’s voice is one of the best parts.

She sounded like a 50 year old chainsmoking grandma. It's quite offputting

It’s so cute husky voiced girls are a rare nice point.

If you wanted a mellow, comfy show, you could've just stuck with Dragon Tales which came out the exact same year.

Dragon Tales was a baby show and if you watched it as a kid you'd get relentlessly mocked. Mike, Lu, and Og was boring trash but at the very least nobody really batted an eye at it.

Zoomers say this type of shit is boring but love shows like Clarence and Summer Camp Island
