Maybe its just me but I think expanding Absolute and nu-Ultimate beyond the initial core books is a mistake. Ultimate began with three and Ultimates soon followed and even then I was ok with it (plus its the best book of the line). Now we have Ultimate Wolverine which imo has been boring and I'm sure more books will follow.

Absolute began with the Trinity which obviously makes sense but now we're getting Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lanterns.

Less is more imo, quality over quantity. The more books they put out the higher the chance the line suffers because of it. I found it easy to read all 3 Ultimate books (I dont read UBP) and all 3 Absolute books. Now each line has 5 and 6 books respectively. I also think these new universes benefit from having less cooks in the kitchen enabling tighter continuity which imo is one of the cool things about such a universe/alternate retelling of these characters and their histories.

Camp just confirmed Martian Manhunter was supposed to be six issues and got expanded to 12 because of sales and word of mouth.

So Flash and Green Lantern are most likely in the same boat, especially the latter since Ewing is doing like 10 books at once

Flash

I hope not. That's the only one I want to be an ongoing

shush

Opposite for me, It was fine, but it didn't have the big action moments that the first three had.

It felt like, for a lack of a better word, like the majority of other first issues.

It's always about gouging the ocd collectors. Crossovers will be next. They NEVER learn from the successful manga model.

Corporations will always run things into the ground in the pursuit of more money.

I just like the flash

I'm pretty disappointed that apparently they're crossing over with 616 already, having Miles visit

Ultimate began with three and Ultimates soon followed and even then I was ok with it (plus its the best book of the line)

You're severely underqualified to judge quality.

Which one do you think is better than ultimates

All of them really, even the soggy Wolverine bait. Ultimates is barely any better than BP.

It may seem like oversaturation but it's best to strike while the iron is hot, as many times as possible. Because people are buying whatever they can of the new universes. When the appeal dies down then a new series will be a harder sell. Best to get the biggest names out as fast as possible and see what works. But they all need strong starts.

I disagree

I remember when Ultimate Spider-Man first started and the art was so fucking ugly I never read past the first few issues. To this day it colors my impression of the whole series.

Bagley was the best artist they had.

My only problem with the art was Bagley's weird close ups. The faces just looked off when he did it.

There is nothing wrong with expanding.

The only thing neither should do is force the universes into events and relaunch the numbers.

Marvel already failed at the first one dragging Miles into the comics.
But you never want to relaunch the numbers.

Look at Kamala/Ms Marvel. Loved by Normalfags. Then they dragged her into Secret Wars by killing her off in her own book (it’s totally the end of Marvel bro), then relaunched her book with a new #1, then dragged her into Civil War 2. Totally killed the momentum of the character and made fans abandon her.

I love Bagley's art

I love bagley as well but I always hated the art for ultimate, it all just looks a bit off.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it can look off, sometimes people's heads and their bodies can look strange and seem like they dont fit together

He's mediocre.

He didn't become a superstar like McFarlane and Larsen whom he followed but he was still a big draw, did his part in contributing to the way Spider-Man looked in the 90s. They put him on their big Ultimate launch title because loads of people liked the way he draws.

The more books they put out the higher the chance the line suffers because of it.

You're too focused on looking at the entire line as a whole, when you'd benefit more from looking at each book as its own thing. The Absolute books are pretty much entirely disconnect from each other so far. Absolute Wonder Woman has been good and it won't be made worse by more books being added to the line, as long as it's allowed to continue telling its own story. The worst mistake they can make is connect the books too deeply and force them all to tell the same story, that's when they can start bringing each other down.
Flash and MM had good first issues.

By the 2000s, he was not up the standard he set in the 90s.

The Absolute line is leading up to a Darkseid event, entropy is inevitable.

Flash was terrible.

they want some brands before copyrights expire and are trying to establish new things before then or to cover all the random derivatives people might try so can sue anyone into ground for using.

There's a 7th book already confirmed to be happening at some point in the Absolute line. Then there's the obvious Earth 1/Darksied crossover event that's gonna happen at some point and probably after that, some of the non trinity books go back on the shelf and we get an Absolute Justice (league) book or something for those characters for as long as Absolute lasts.

Crossover is inevitable

he's one of my favorite artists lel

You're too focused on looking at the entire line as a whole, when you'd benefit more from looking at each book as its own thing.

You might be right but I still think quality over quantity is a good thing.

So Flash

The writer mentioned he has 20 issues mapped out or something so he assumes it will go on.

In the 2000s Bagley was kino, Satan prince of lies

this, that anon is gay as fuck

Absolute Batman is bulky af. He can probably break someone's bones with his bare hands.

thats the idea, yes

No. He was good on 90s Spider-Man.
He sucked on Thunderbolts and USM.

I liked Thunderbolts

i disagree

Lemire could have a hundred issues mapped out, if they're going off of sales and/or buzz then that's gonna be the only thing they care about
