Looking for comics set in the American southwest. Not just the western genre; anything.
American Southwest
Preacher.
Jonah Hex: Two Gun Mojo too.
Geiger
American southwest
based
I've been trying to find comics in that setting as well. Looking for dusty culty vibey shit. It's harder than you'd think. I'll recommend what I've found. Most of it doesn't really scratch the itch I'm looking for, but it might suite your needs?
East of West
Above Snakes
Blueberry.
Large chunks of The Incredible Hulk
Blueberry
There are a ton of versions of this comic from 1963 - 2007 ish.
Xxxombies
I had this one in my collection for ages but never actually read it because I was expecting it was going to be some cannibal holocaust 80s gore shit. This was actually a fun read. Survivalist zombie outbreak story but the survivors are actors/crew on a porn set. Seems to take the piss out of Walking Dead. Really fun read.
Dead Body Road
Not really sure exactly where this one is set, but there's lot's of driving on desolate roadways which feels southwestern to me.
Black Jack Ketchum
Death or Glory
The Humans
Set in a fictional Planet of the Apes type world, but there's plenty of motorcycle riding down what seem to be desert highways. Can't pinpoint exact locale, but it has southwestern flavor.
Lonesome
Can't say that I've actually read this one yet. It's in my backlog. I got it because I was going through a real spaghetti western phase, but to be honest, I really dislike the art style, so I haven't dug into it yet.
Loveless
The Man With No Name
Pretty Deadly
Dead West
i live in the american southwest, bought some local comics once, hope this thread doesn't die before i get home so i can try and find them
Calamity Jane - The Calamitous Life of Martha Jane Canary
Trying to keep it alive, but I can't do it alone. Gonna have to get some actual work done eventually.
OP, why don't you share what you've found so far?
Comanche
Criminal Macabre
This one doesn't *really* have a soutwestern backdrop. It's just kind of metropolitan LA, but that counts, right?
Calavera P.I.
Django Zorro
Django Unchained
This is more the south than southwest, but if you're into westerns...
your people are victims of genocide all over the country
YOU are portrayed as violent savages who rape and murder in media for hundreds of years afterwards
Whites really are the devil
Yeah sure
Fistful of Blood
Haven't read this one yet either. Having a hard time getting into the tumblr art style.
Bikini Cowboy
This one was written/drawn by /ourguy/ Fresher Luke aka Luke Weber. The guy can be an argumentative weenus on twitter, but he knows how to fucking draw.
Friend of the Devil
LA setting. Still haven't heard a fucking word from OP if that counts or not.
*taps mic*
is anyone there? Beuller?
Funny Creek
This was one of the big differences between American Westerns and Euro Westerns. The American Westerns still tended to portray the Native Americans as the violent offenders while Euro Westerns typically portrayed them a bit more as neutral parties (and some even had both male and female natives as the MC hero).
Heavenly Blues
Horror in the West
Hotell
This one takes place along a stretch of desolate road on Route 66.
House of Penance
I had hoped that this would be more of an actual conversation so I could find some new stuff too.
Is anyone out there? OP?
Iron West
You fags are delusional if you really think the savage portrayals match the favorable or sympathetic ones in American media
alright, apparently this is a dead thread. I'm going to stop trying to keep it alive.
we're talking about mid-century portrayals, dumbass. Learn to decipher context.
Undone by Blood.
Even then dude there is a good amount of positive portrayals. I've read issues of Arizona Kid that sucked off native Americans as noble warriors with true aim. You're just a lib who doesn't actually read this genre
Gunning for Rameiz, only 2/3 volumes out though.
You're just a lib who doesn't actually read this genre
Bold statement that, if you actually had any actual context for who I am, would be fucking hilarious. Best of luck.
