When I hear 'cartoons' I default to animated TV shows or shorts rather than full animated films. For whatever reason I wouldn't consider The Little Mermaid a cartoon so much as an 'animated film'.
If we include animated films under the 'cartoon' umbrella term I absolutely agree that the 80s had some good shit in it.

2005-2008, 2008 was the deadline and 2006 was already starting to show its ugly head in.

The late 80’s was the start of the spark that led into what the 90’s was. Disney was trying a lot harder on TV and you also have the seeds of Spumco and whatnot. It rightfully doesn’t deserve a lot of the credit because the 80’s was predominantly *not* that, but for accuracy it’s worthy of mention, shit didn’t come out of nowhere the moment the ball dropped on Jan 1st 1990.
