I guess a good question to also ask is whether this show could even happen, to the same degree. Big city life seems to have pretty much flattened out in major coastal cities to areas that are over-commercialized or gentrified to a degree that any gritty late 90s to early 00s charm seems to be just a distant memory. Maybe a few cities still have it, but it seems to be spaces monopolized by older millennials and Xers who bought in at the right time or younger millennials and zoomers who have a trust fund or similar financial support.
