As a kid, I always liked Storm and Wolverine to end up together.

Then Black Panther came into the picture.

My friends started shipping BP and Storm heavily, mostly because they’re both Black.

I tried to explain why I thought that pairing didn’t make sense and shared my reasons for why Storm and Wolverine were a better match.

Instead, they accused me of having a "fetish" and insisted that, as a Black man, I should want BP and Storm together.

I think it could have been an interesting dynamic as she is a generous person and Wakanda is isolationist pseudo fascist which could of led to some decent drama, as well as maybe having some Wakandan mutie bigotry or some such but their entire "romance" was the most contrived and forced I've ever seen. The zenith being the Watcher showing up at their wedding. I also think it was an opportunity to remove Storm from X-books but still keep her around, which is win-win for X-men which has far too many characters

When writers pair Storm and Black Panther together, most of them portray Storm as someone who places mutant issues before anything else, even her spouse and the same thing with Black Panther but with Wakanda instead of mutants. I know they do this shit for easy drama but if you keep doing it you're just making them seem like a toxic couple who are just not compatible with each other.
