KOTH Revival Thread

So… what happened to “Early 2025”? Is this going to end up like “Close Enough” and we’re T the beginning of 3 years of radio silence?

All the articles about it are repetitive click bait with no real information.

Yeah, Cracked is straight up trolling at this point.

Who cares, the original show had 13 seasons, there's nothing left to say.

I mean it's kinda a dick move to tease a date and then ghost everybody when that date comes.

If it's cancelled they should just say so.

Seriously it’s like Close Enough all over again…

I think Dale's VA passing away might have killed the production or the studio pulled out halfway through and we just don't know it yet. Too long without anything for a show like this.

They're straight up written by AI now.

I was told that Dale's VA basically completed all his voice lines before his passing meaning if they wanted to, they can respectably just release this and dont continue the series since if it did continue Dale would need to be written out of the show or replaced with a new VA

I’m wondering how they’re going to handle Luanne and Lucky since both of their actors are dead.

Well that's nice to know at least, I wasn't sure he was able to actually finish his episodes for the reboot. I'd like the show to still happen but losing 1/4 of that alley dynamic hurts. Though part of me figured they'd do something like kill off Bill or Boomhauer if nothing happened IRL.

Either as silent background characters and they just moved away. Could recast them I suppose but I don't feel like they would, it's not something I'd expect from the KOTH production staff.

I had no hope for it as soon as Dale's voice actor died

dang 'ol dust in the wind man

That was nearly two years ago. Ample time to announce that it’s cancelled.

The cast posted about a wrap party in October. So production has been completed.

wrap party doesn't mean post is done

Still, Hardwick died over a year prior to it, they wouldn't have made it that far if it derailed things.

If they need to recast Dale, give him one of those smoker artificial voice boxes (you see in those PSA commercials) that he's fiddled with to try to make it sound like his own, but can never get it quite right.

Or he went innawoods because conspiracy.

It means they're done with all the voice work and animation and all that's left is editing and some post production

Mike Judge's name still.carries some weight in television so I doubt they would cancel and risk pissing Judge off unless the show was a disaster.

I have 2 guesses as to why it's taking so long.

1. Disney/fox first decided they're gonna air it on tv. Now that American dad is back on fox they can now recreate the original animation domination lineup and milk that millennial nostalgia for all it worth

2. Trump. Maybe they were gonna adress the orange elephant in the room but assumed kamala was gonna win and now they have to rework one or more episodes to fix that.

It was always advertised as a Hulu thing.

Honestly, you can’t write out dale like you Luanne or Lucky. He’s too integral to the show

This show is a lot like Bojack Horseman, by which I mean reality always ensues. No one is immune from death.

That's not something written in stone anon. There actually hasn't been any real advertisements besides a few press releases. And it wouldn't be the first time that Disney moved a project that was originally meant for streaming to a more traditional platform. Besides it would still hit hulu the next day.

If that's the case then it won't be out until late September. They really need to come out and announce something as Early 2025 is rapidly wrapping up.

For what I've seen, they are probably still in post-production. A few months ago they released a photo of the supposed design of Chef Bobby. Also I can't find the video, but Bobby's VA was being interviewed and she said the revival had finished voice recordings for season 2.

I'm sure they'll be written out with just references in dialogue like they are travelling around the country or Lucky slipped in pee in a Costco from another state and they got a bigger house as settlement.

IMDb says it premieres May 25th. Don't know if it's trustworthy since it's IMDb but it's something.

Cracked

You're still reading Cracked in fucking 2025?

Everything else reporting on the revival is some literalwho tabloid.

IMDB is just a trivia machine for Amazon prime x-ray now.

If Bobby is in his 20's in this that would mean that Hank and Peggy would be like in their 70's. That would also mean not only would the cast look older but they would be way older.

I also dont believe they'll be committed to keeping things consistant. Post S9 KotH basically went the Simpsons route and stopped giving a shit about pre-established lore. It was literally the worst thing to happen to the series too since it then went on for 4 more seasons and all those seasons were shit too.

They were in their early 40s in the show, early 30s when Bobby was born. At most they'll be 50-ish since Bobby's going from 13 to 21.

Bobby was 13 at the end of the show and this description implies Bobby is still pretty young so we can assume he's in his early twenties which means maybe 10 years have passed since the show ended. Hank was in 40's during the show's run so at the most he'd be in early to mid 50's

Post S9 KotH basically went the Simpsons route and stopped giving a shit about pre-established lore.

That's because Mike Judge's and Greg Daniels had pretty much stopped working on the show full time around season 7 to focus on other projects, except for Mike Judge's still voicing hank and other characters obviously. They handed over creative control of the show to some other guys who's name's i forget and they increasingly focused on turning the show more formulaic and episodic.

The good news is that Mike Judge and Greg Daniels reunited a few years back and started a production company that is handling the revival and both involved with the show, both as writers and as producers. Bad news is they're technically not the showrunners. So I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll at least be better than the later years of the show.

Funnily enough, the only call back that actually felt like a real call back was everything in relation to Luanne's family especially her dad

Pretty pharmacist gal was just sugar talk for junkie drug addict who fed him his fix

He's somehow even more insane then Leanne

Yet at the same time makes total sense why he fell for Leanne in the first place.

As long as Dale says it's a beautiful day....yay I won't care.

This time, Hank actually goes to the Mower Expo.

And Hank says Dallas salad

SUNDAY! SEAKING! OIL PAINTINGS!

BE T H E R E!

Kathy Najimy confirmed it's coming out

Yeah but that's about it.
