7/10, good but not great.

First act is a little uneven, gets better once the Silver Surfer arrives.

Galactus is genuinely terrifying and feels unstoppable, like a natural disaster.

Good contrast of tone between the hopeful first half and the somber second half.

Sue is the best character.

Reed is fine, but the stretching scenes are disappointing.

Mixed reactions on Johnny, some say he was the best alongside Sue, others that he lacked charisma.

Ben is also good, but doesn’t do much. They touch briefly on his transformation blues, but overall he’s come to terms with it.

The main conflict is the F4 trying to find a way to stop Galactus. The characters besides Reed and Sue don’t really have personal arcs or the F4 don’t have conflicts with each other.

Paul Walter Hauser is Mole Man, who helps the F4 fight Galactus.

Natasha Lyonne plays Ben’s girlfriend Rachel in a really minor role.

John Malkovich plays Red Ghost and only appears in one scene.

Johnny has a thing with the Silver Surfer. Norrin Radd isn’t mentioned.

Ends with the Silver Surfer sacrificing herself to push Galactus through a portal that will teleport him to the other end of the galaxy.

Post-credits scene is Doctor Doom abducting a slightly older Franklin.

I'll take a 7/10 considering how awful all previous F4 films and most of phase 4/5 has been.

SS is more recognizable. Plus Nova's story is a bit convoluted for an introductory film.

If they're already going for an inaccurate adaptation just have Nova be some alien broad who functions the same way Girl Surfer is.

I won't believe for a second that fucking Disney is incapable of spending money on decent animation for a movie about Marvel's First Family

The VFX was reportedly very unfinished, more so than you'd expect for a movie coming out in less than 2 months.

It's not a money problem, it's an overworked exhausted VFX artists problem. Marvel is infamous for changing movies at the last minute, which requires new animation/effects done for scenes.

Thunderbolts was a 5/10, and I doubt this movie will be better than Thunderbolts.

I mean they're both based in the same story arc, and that's the resolution of the comic (albeit it's Alicia who convinces Surfer and not the FF).

They should've replaced SS with Firelord if they were going to go with a genderswap and obligatory romance with Johnny.

Everyone, mega Marvelfagsat least, are aware of the mid 2000s Fantastic four movies, they're not that stupid, and if they introduced Nova instead, that'll leave room for the inevitable MCU Silver Surfer to show up one day and not a dumb genderbend.

Pascal is not an inspired choice and even people who said they liked the movie described his performance as unnoteworthy.
Norrin Rad is a cool character who they keep fucking up in these films, and the goblina they replaced him with is probably the worst miscast in an MCU film yet.

Last movie Surfer just kamikaze'ed taking Galactus with him. Every Surfer story revolves around Radd rebelling against his master, movies just need more permanent solutions.

However this is obviously not one of those solutions. My money is on Doom capturing and siphoning off Galactus's power

All the Mexican Reed jokes are amusingly stupid to me because it makes it dead obvious that people bitching about it still think the Oberyn Martell voice he used in GoT is his real accent and his Mandalorian voice is an act, or not aware of him much past GoT/Mandalorian and just dislike him for being a lib and vaguely hispanic because of his facial hair.
