In most cases I’d agree, but this actually didn’t bother me. Adlon is so distinctly Bobby and her voice is better suited to an adult portrayal than, say, Bart Simpson. There are already a few squeaky, high pitched Texas men on the show, so it didn’t strike me as a out of place.

Maybe. I appreciate the new VA trying. It's not an easy voice to get down. Dale doesn't have any exaggerated mannerisms or catchphrases to milk in order too sound convincingly similar unlike Boomhauer or Bill or even Kahn. He just sounds like some guy.

His voice works but yah I thought it was jarring too. I want to see an adult version of bobby, not main show bobby that happens to look like an adult. It's more difficult to buy into the former if he still sounds like the latter.
It would've worked better if they made him more funny-looking, like how Cotton had an exaggerated voice that fit with his funny dot-eyed face. But adult Bobby looks too much like a normal guy you'd see on the street.
You can kind of tell when Dale is Hardwick and when he's Huss but Huss isn't terrible as Dale. The problem is that Hardwick had such an iconic voice that it's difficult hearing anything else
My problem is that Pamela didn't even try to change his voice or they even used AI to change it. They just had Bobby speak the same way.
