it's less of the fact that it's scripted and moreso how tiring the format gets. Karl's Diary (ep 7 of Season 1) was good simply because it mixed things up a bit to where they could make fun of Karl in a different way, it's the same reason Monkey News isn't really that good for me personally, I understand it's the stories Karl can pull out of his ass that makes it work but when the punchline is the same and you know what it's going to be (Ricky going "bullshit/bollocks") it takes the buildup out of it, at that point you're just listening to Karl doing an improv story
Regardless of how you feel about Ricky, if it wasn't for him being a laugh track just listening to Karl talking on his own would take a lot out of it, even if it's basically telling the listener to laugh

Yeah Ricky's sometimes wrong oftentimes I'd argue but his abrasiveness really drives the series forward. You need him to get things moving, you need Karl to seem relatively grounded before he says something totally off the wall, you need Stephen to play Devil's Advocate in regards to what either of them are saying and try to back one of them up to provide support. The show fundamentally would not work if you removed one of the trio.
Yeah that's just kind of a well-known phenomenon. It's the same in Brazil. And Vietnam. And India. And Italy. And so-on. Almost every country that's large enough has a north/south divide, it's just a question as to which side is seen as the backwards one.

Oh man, I remember that episode. It all made perfect sense to me, and I could not understand how Ricky and Steven were being such idiots over it. I really think only people that have had some kind of chronic condition for ages would really understand the reasoning for this. Like my mother had always had some kind of back pain nearly all her life, it just sort of comes and goes with her.
