WHen Abin Sur died his ring found two potential successors on Earth, Hal and Guy. Hal was closer so Guy was kind of just noted as a backup should Hal die.

To be fair the blurb on the cover is referencing the authors other stuff. She's a pretty acclaimed sci-fi writer from what I've gathered.
I've got Jungle Fever and I like her outfit. That was basically it. Her actual original story was Okay, but not anything to really hang on to the character for afterwards. Certainly not in the hilariously overcrowded roster the GL already had when she came out.
I like the design some, but I don't get why she even needs to be a human. If she was an alien chick and we were following this alien GL going trough the motions of an avarage GL crap it would have been more interesting.
