Nah, they actually handled this right and actually made Miles appear incompetent before getting in his groove. And when he did find his groove they didn't make him the best Spider-Man to ever Spider-Man either, he just went from incompetent to competent as he let instinct take over. You don't need a gay ass training montage, there are plenty of stories of heroes being forged through the crucible of need and they pulled off that type of story adequately. They didn't do shit like the comic and feel the need to constantly fellate Miles.
