What are the limits of Reed's powers?
What are the limits of Reed's powers?
its elasticity is good and all, but his true power is his intelligence, which makes him the most dangerous man in the universe.
Who cares how much you can stretch when you can create an anti-galactus laser?
Ultimate Reed/The Maker is supposedly unkillable. 616 Reed is similarly resistant to damage, both are very hard to hurt or kill because of they stretch on reflex. Both are capable of shape-shifting to a pretty strong degree depending on what the writer wants. Like the other anon mentioned, his intelligence is his most dangerous ability, and his stretchiness can help in that.
Why doesn't he cure cure all diseases then?
Ultimate Reed/The Maker is supposedly unkillable.
Don't his powers work differently?
Don't his powers work differently?
I should check some panels, but I'm lazy.
But yes, Maker has a better version of Reed's powers. He can do things like become smarter (if this hasn't been retconned already) by making his brain bigger. reed can't do that
Yes, that's why he's unkillable, unaging, and Immortal supposedly. Even more so now because the Beyonder split his soul or something.
616 Reed is similarly durable.
Reed hasn't cured cancer because, he's preoccupied with whatever villain is currently terrorising the world, and also it wouldn't make for a marketable plot. The Maker probably has a cure for cancer but doesn't care to give it to people.
He didn't outright make himself smarter by expanding his brain, he expanded his brain for more storage space to accumulate knowledge over a thousand years. He trapped himself in a time bubble to outpace the world's technology.
Would he get dumber if he shrank down in size?
All that and somehow he still jobs
they don't work differently but Maker made different use of his powers, at least the version of the Maker that fought Venom remember after Secret Wars the Beyonder sliced him so that every universe has its own Maker who all behave and act the same way. the Donny Cates one is the one with an extended head and is currently in Earth-1610 (plotline abandoned after Cates' accident), while the one in the new Earth-6160 ultimate universe is a different Maker
I assume he would get dumber, the latest ultimate series has him lose a lot of his memory after getting a part of his head blown off from an attack, he also acts kinda stupid at the start of the new Ultimate Universe probably because of the missing brain.
As for how he jobs, a lot of the time it's an asspull. Sunspot saying that 616 tech is superior being the biggest asspull. Other times he just loses because an Omnipotent god being turns him into pizza with a single thought.
Then they should try shrinking him with Pym particles
The Maker's powers, or at least Anatomy, are different from Reed. All his organs are compressed into a tiny sphere or something like that, he doesn't need to eat, shit, or anything, and he's Immortal.
if this hasn't been retconned already
it hasnt but that version of the Maker is in limbo since Cates forgot his plans for him after the accident, the current version of the Maker s funnily the opposite: half his head is blown off by Kang
On the other hand, according to Marvel Anatomy (although the canonicity is questionable), 616 Reed seems to just have normal organs that stretch with him.
oh thats true, I just meant they both are still stretchy powers, 1610 Reed having no normal organs anymore was part of the 2000s era of giving explanations for superpowers previously left unbothered
Size of a small town in terms of stretching recently. Not sure if he's the same physical makeup as Maker Reed, but if so, he's incredibly durable.
if I'm not wrong, the Maker can also make certain deformations permanent for his body like his brain, Reed has to consciously do that and cant hold it forever
I cant tell if people want villains to have less ridiculous powers, or if they want dystopian stories where the bad guys just win all the time, or if theyre just memeing.
I mean the correct opinion is that first one, but then they'd eventually have to actually do something original, so thats off the table.
Iirc 616 Reed is smarter than the Maker, so Maker has to stretch his brain just to keep up.
I think he is the only stretchy guy that actually has some hard limits. He cannot make himself stronger and his stretch limit is usually said to be around 1500 feet.
Basically he is the team genius guy that builds robots and lasers, but he is durable enough to not be instantly taken down when a villain gets to him.
His face scar too, to remind himself of the anger of being betrayed by the rest of the Fantastic Four
I just think it's funny that The Maker can't win even with how overpowered he is
or if they want dystopian stories where the bad guys just win all the time
That's basically 6160
is there a version of Reed that's basically Plastic Man?
I mean he is OP, but he's also up against Good versions of himself.
Is The Maker not Plastic Man level?
Not always
I don't think so, Plastic Man is a lor more durable and flexible, but I also meant if there's any Reeds similar in personality
Probably somewhere in the Council of Reeds
isn’t maker above plastic man with his ability to spread himself to be in each universe?
Solving Ben's "I'm a misshapen thing" problem.
Keeping Susan out of Namor's bed.
Being nerfed by bad writing.
How long does his dick stretch?
I don't think so because he wasn't spread apart voluntarily
isn’t maker above plastic man with his ability to spread himself to be in each universe?
He didn't do it himself.
he didn't spread himself to be in each universe on his own, he was basically copypasted across the entire multiverse by the Molecule Man
Why did he cover a small town?
Bronze age Reed is not very powerful, easily the weakest ff
the Maker can also make certain deformations permanent for his body like his brain,
But he needs some tools to do that no? That's why he wears the helmet
Bicycle
The writer and artist's creativity
It was part of their plan to stop some meteorites.
Blood Hunt had him overexert himself to the point of his skin tearing.
