Now that AI exists, is there any point in continuing to work on a comic book, or on any kind of art/writing really? Will people still be publishing comic books and will there be any jobs in the industry anymore? It it just nepotism and giving free money to people you personally know/like? Or is there a chance for normal people to ever work in any comic book related capacity and actually make a living out of it ever again?
AI and the comic book "industry"
Yes. Publishers are never going to publish AI because the backlash will be too great.
They already use AI in major American comic book companies despite any possible backlash though?
Now that AI exists, is there any point in continuing to work on a comic book, or on any kind of art/writing really?
Yeah, do you want to do those thing?
What kind of dumb question is that
I want to be able to pay my rent and buy food and clothes and a house and retire by doing it like everyone else with every other job.
kek
anon, it's art. getting into art to make money is like eating gravel for nutrition
You don't create a comic with the goal of making a whole lotta money. The work is too exhausting and thankless. You make a comic specifically because you enjoy making comics. The money you make simply supports your lifestyle so you can afford, financially, to make more comics without starving to death. People just enjoy making art and enjoy sharing that art with others. If it wasn't for the need to have money to live most comics would probably be free.
Honestly even if you re pro AI being used there's no incentive to work in the comic book industry. You will get paid peanuts for an easy job in which by the very nature of the "tool" you are replaceable. why do that when you can make comparatively bank doing independent NSFW commissions?
the backlash will be too great
And yet people will still buy them. Either because they're brand addicts or they're retards with more money than brains.
Unfortunately, both of those account for at least 70% of the American population.
is there any point in continuing to work on a comic book, or on any kind of art/writing really?
Yes? To make something that's objectively not shit?
People won't buy them.
And yet people had no problems doing it before AI replaced 90% of art-related jobs.
So only rich nepo babies make comics then in your opinion?
Isn't the industry already a nepotistic wasteland? Supr Dee got syndicated to spite Scott Adams and because Jim Davis wanted him syndicated, not because he is a god of cartooning or anything.
If the goal was monetary then no, but we're beyond that. It was already nepotism that runs the animation and comics industry. All this will do is allow easier access to individuals to produce their own things.
All this will do is allow easier access to individuals to produce their own things.
What do you mean exactly? There's already thousands of individuals who can produce quality work but they aren't allowed to get money for it or be published, so what exactly do you think AI will do for them? Can you buy food with AI money?
I don't mean anything. We'll just continue to circle the drain on our collective media. Any tranny that wants to make a story can. Any of us that wants to make one can do the same. AI can already make video segments. You string enough of those together and you could make films, and as it improves the future for us becomes clear.
We'll all work in factories while companies produce this stuff with ai. You'll get stuff tailored to what you would like, and the art of being creative won't be reserved for the lucky or well connected. Just the rich, and the 20+ year old franchises that had the benefit of being first. Power concentrates in the hands of the few
Hahahahaha
AI in the comics industry can work as long as they use it to make the products better and not worse. They have real room for improvement that AI could help with. Real person drawn comics always get delayed and postponed and canceled because they can't keep up. If something like AI rendered backgrounds means they can actually produce the product they've been unable to do then cool good on em. If it means they continue failing to do the same stuff they're doing now only cheaper and worse then they can fuck off.
would Greg Lands art improve now that he longer needs to use real fotos/porn as refferences?
Yes. Publishers are never going to publish AI because the backlash will be too great.
We'll all work in factories
Dude what fucking factories, there aren't any factories in my country anymore, and all other low-level jobs are taken by the Nepalese because of massive EU gibs to nepotistic companies that import them and even more gibs to the ones that hire them.
Have you considered not reading retarded serialized slop though?
People won't buy them.
AI Artists are making thousands of dollars a month. Getting normies to sub to their comics is piss easy.
Now that AI exists, is there any point in continuing to work on a comic book, or on any kind of art/writing really?
Well, they say that the tech is meant to destroy the world so that the rich can rule the rubbles, but it allegedly could be miss-used to turn all of In the Realm of the Unreal art and writing into a comic series. You could also feed it less controversial novels, like any of the Orlando Furioso variants - or feed it with Boccitelli art to create a Boccitelli Orlando Furioso fork.
There are factories here where I live. I used to work in them, and I have never wanted to kill myself more than when I had to stand in one place for twelve hours doing the exact same thing on loop without music. With another hour stuck being there for unpaid breaks. I wouldn't wish that hell on you or anyone else
Ok so what am I supposed to live from then?
That's the neat part. You aren't supposed to live. You aren't supposed to own anything. You're supposed to be happy with nothing, and until we all collectively start pulling luigis this is the only thing we have waiting for us. Starving and mind numbing labor.
You're supposed to be happy with nothing, and until we all collectively start pulling luigis this is the only thing we have waiting for us.
Until this guy shows up. You didn't think they prepared for this?
mind numbing labor.
Dude I can't get money for mind numbing labor. If I could I would.
You can still tell the difference between slop and real stuff most of the time. AI isn't really consistent enough right now to really be an alternative. Right now. And most of the stories AI writes is crap.
Even when AI gets good enough, people will still like the human touch.
javascript:quote('') Am I the only one that notices that all these turbo AIshill bots make up the bulk of what people usually call reddit spacing now? What’s up with that?
People who don't wanna consume slop need to get used to checking for names of real people attached to the things they buy so they can know it was made by a human. This is a problem for most creative industries where people are more familiar with studios and publishers than individual creatives.
AI slop is not copyrightable. So no one will want to use it. It will be great for shit posters though.
Can the resident AIjeet start saying 'digital illustrators' instead of artists? Because saying artists makes him sound even more retarded than he already is.
AI has already replaced sculptors, painters, animators and actors!
Like I said he'd still sound like a retard, just slightly less so
AI slop is not copyrightable.
Why do people keep repeating this BS? Obviously you don't just tell the AI "lol make me a comic and print it", you just use it for individual elements and panels and whatnot. And as soon as you do anything to it it's copyrightable.
AI has already replaced sculptors, painters, animators and actors!
Are you aware that all of the decorative architectural elements for example, are made by machines now, not sculptors? And everything else is pretty much the same case with AI.
vague non-response
So it's a bot
ranjesh you really should sacrifice yourself to the great train juggernaut i hear that's how you get good karma these days
Unironically Anon Babble probably has one of the worst bot problems relative to the actual size of its userbase, if that makes sense
There’s such a bizarrely high amount of repetitive posts and non-sequiturs that have nothing to with what’s actually being said despite the fact Anon Babble is a fairly slow board these days that it’s basically a nightmare to use
Are you aware that all of the decorative architectural elements for example, are made by machines now
What do you mean?
Or you retards just can't follow the conversation.
I mean this.

Now that AI exists, is there any point in continuing to work on a comic book, or on any kind of art/writing really?
Cause people will still want to do them as hobbies. Does the existence of cars or escalators suddenly mean our legs stop functioning? Does the existence of sex dolls keep incels from being a thing?
Will people still be publishing comic books and will there be any jobs in the industry anymore?
Let's be frank, working in the industry is always going to suck ass with how little monetary compensation most of them will get, but there'll still be jobs. We're a long way from living Kenny Who's nightmare of boxes printing out comics with the push of a button. And even then, artists and writers and colorists will still be needed, even if only for the sake of editing and fixing the shit that the ai poops out.
And as soon as you do anything to it it's copyrightable.
so why didn't the zanday comic get the copyright? That had plenty of editing.

Can the resident AIjeet start saying 'digital illustrators' instead of artists?
Nah. A digital illustrator is somebody using digital painting tools to get the job done.
Indie comics have always a been a huge gamble with unicorn tier success stories.
As it continues to get more advanced, AI can be a decent tool to help small creators who wagie full time put out work, do simple shit like basic backgrounds, train the ai on their art style so it can do simple poses. The real problem will be morons using it to write. Last year I played around with using AI to help my own writing process, not so much to write the story for me, but to explore different branching paths and scenarios. Made a mental process that could take multiple afternoon sessions condensed into a few hours...but after only a month I could slowly feel my IQ draining, using dialog straight from the chat bots rather than my own words, which became glarly obvious to any proof as my style and the AI style was clearly different even after feeding my own excerpts into it after a month.
They apparently didn't deny her the right to the comic as a whole, they just said that she couldn't sue anybody over the use of the images in it, as they don't belong to anybody, legally speaking.
Which she, according to the article, is going to counter by hoping that enough people do not understand that randomness is not arbitrary.
As far as comics go, AI will actually improve them.
Look at this garbage, AI can do better than this
"we'll grant you the copyright, you just can't have any copyright over it"
The story and the arrangement of the panels are still hers, as she allegedly did those without AI assist.
So you can freely use the images in her comic in any way you want. Like to make your own comic by reshuffling them.
Oh boy, glossy perfect Anakin that crosses the uncanny line because something isn't right. Its still bad, just the same AI shit when at least with what you posted its fun to imagine whatever time crunch that artist was in.
Yeah. I've been feeling this with my writing. Generates snappy witty dialogue on the fly. Can do something in prose, and it became less a process of thinking about it but typing in a prompt and deliberating over the results. You're here talking about comics and the like but writing is about to be finished as an art form when it improves any further
