We live in an age of rehashes. If you have an established franchise you just milk it with remakes and low budget sequels and whatever pushed out garbage you can because that will be guaranteed profit because you already have a captured demographic for it, the people who liked the original work.
So we get nothing but this kind of dogshit. TV, comics, cartoons, movies, videogames. Nothing but warmed up nostalgia made for the lowest cost and then viral advertised by bots online.
Humanity was a mistake and it's a good thing we're killing ourselves off.
Blowjob monster
Can't wait for the sequel
People age like hell, especially kids. that's the blessing with live action. you can only make so many movies/tv before the actors start to look uncanny.
Kids don't give a shit
It's the audience's fault.
I mean if they keep eating shit like this, the studios are just gonna give them what they want.
Exactly, and that's the problem. For every adult deriding this for the trash heap it is, there are 15 kids that will eat it up because they're so much easier to please and entertain. I mean, we're currently raising a generation on Cocomelon AND Skibidi Toilet, if that tells you anything.
Kids
It's not for kids but for their parents to take their kids with them to the movies.
The average normie family just does not care, OP. There's plenty of kids that haven't seen the original and this will be Lilo & Stitch to them just as Disney wants.
If anything it'll get more people to seek out the original and find out how much better it was.
Just watch more original movies and tv shows. Stop wasting your time on it if you don’t like it and support new shit.
I wouldn’t mind Disney remaking this though.
Disney shills are at it again.
Black Cauldron was a fever dream and never really existed. There is no way something like that is actually real. Munchings and crunchings? No, that's just some kind of schizophrenia in our head.
be me
stopped consuming anything Disney since 2018
spoiling myself with bad reviews
many mention the Ohana moment
Nani now says, almost verbatim, that what is supposed to be the catchphrase of the entire movie is a beautiful idea but "not realistic."
families sticking together during the good times and bad is "unrealistic".
Iger gaslighting that Disney's old movies had bad morals is the most Jewish thing I've heard in a very long time.
TOO MANY NON-HUMAN CHARACTERS REMOVE EMOTIONAL DEPTH
Some of the morals that Teen Titans Go teaches are just plain bad. It teaches kids to be annoying and do whatever they want, not whatever is virtuous
Teen Titans, Batman Beyond, and Batman the Animated series gave some good morals about personal responsibility, teamwork, masculinity, and empathy towards others.
They're going to adapt the TV show pilot instead of the 2nd movie because there's wayyy more money to be made introducing Stitch's cousins.
cgi henwen
someone will literally get paid to animate a hog's fat ass
Jumba has no accent at all
But... Why?
Most based character isn't even in
It's so over sharksissies and hammerbros.
mfw they didn't go with barefooter Eilonwy
so close to greatness
Some have pointed out that the selection of movies aimed at kids right now is pretty sparse, so it isn't really the fault of kids for being tasteless or parents for taking them to this. Everything else is an R rated horror movie (Clown in a Cornfield, Sinners, Final Destination Bloodlines), a PG-13 action movie (Mission Impossible the Final Reckoning, Thunderbolts*) or something in a similar vein to this movie, but is on its way out of theaters (Minecraft, Snow White). Shockingly, there's nothing animated in theaters at all, even though there were animated movies last year that had massive success (Inside Out 2) which should be a market signal to make more family fare. It really is just the industry being a piece of shit.
Just watch more original movies and tv shows
Who the hell still makes those?
WE ALREADY DO THAT FUCKHEAD.
My nieces are 10 and 8 and they saw the movie on the weekend. When I asked them how it was they said "good", but then when I said "but didn't they change the whole point of it?" they didn't get it at first.
"What do you mean?"
"What was it that they said over and over again in the cartoon movie?"
"Ohana means family." (I was impressed they remembered this desu)
"Right, and at the end, Nani stays with them and they all stay together as a family, right?"
"Oh yeah... and this time... oh."
Kids are smart enough to figure shit out, they just need a hand sometimes.
The blacked cuckron
DOOOOOD THE FILM INDUSTRY IS LE SOULLESS HUSK
you guys have been saying this for 20+ years, there are still good films being made you just ignore them to focus on what offends you.
And yet, instead of making a new thread about something new that you like, you come in here to say how much the complaints offend you.
focus on what offends you
Oh the fucking irony.
But enough about Lilo, let's talk about Stitch.
It’s a pretty good movie. Nothing stellar but a good watch
Same in Avatar TLA
Boomer and GenX cartoons will never happen again. It's now all brainrot with woke millenial women or veteran boomers getting brain rot from Trump. Unironically the closest show to it is The Amazing Circus made by a troon
Nonsequitur, you dont know what I post about retardo.
The dogshit is shitting on the good things and actively sucking up all the talent and resources that could be making the nice things less rare.
Youve become a soccer mom
Nonsequitur
That's not a word, faggot. And I know exactly what you are "about retardo".
Link me to my Anon Babble thread then. Prove you know what I post here.
Girlboss black Eilonwy and useless retard Taran.
Lilo is an even bigger cunt
Jumba has no accent
Agent Nigger is even more incompetent
Jumba and Pleakly are disguised as literal humans the whole time instead of it being comedic whacky disguises
What the fuck?
new friendly neighbor lady introduced
this allows them to have a responsible adult character for the kids to rely on
Nani asks her to take care of Lilo because she's out of her depth
but she even gets the portals so she can just visit whenever she wants
the remake version is the "good end" where the main characters can have their cake and eat it too
like literally every live action Disney remake thus far
this still enrages anyone
Completely ruin the relationship and theme of Nani and Lilo's relationship because you want to make Nani a strong, independent marine biologist
"MORE EMOTIONAL DEPTH!"
Fuck you
They didn’t ruin the relationship or theme, ypu are bull-headed in your willful ignorance
I was there, it happened.
Megabased
It was a good time. Seethe, cope, fear for your nonexistent children, call it the end of the world, bitch and scream, do whatever
you need to look past the Disney garbage
dogman was better than it had any right to be.
both paw patrol movies are fun and have lots of action and relatable messages
wild robot is simple amazing.
my kid was obsessed with the new Wallace and Gromit movie, which is a amazing fun and wholesome movie.
I know. They literally just make a community effort that guarantees everyone gets what they need and is happy. It’s pleasant as shit, but anons prefer to accept parts of it but deny others so they can engineer their perfect reason to be offended. It’s ridiculous
No I am not saying the movie is perfect btw, just this ending shit is so overblown
This board is filled with sunk cost Disney adults
They may as well have used alien technology to bring their parents back to life.
The reported first week numbers aren't as impressive as they seem and I predict a huge week two drop off.
I get what you mean, but the original was about solving a CPS dispute by demonstrating your family can teach an alien love
Since Nani has a perfectly functioning portal gun, why not just continue to live in Hawaii and portal into her classes, allowing them to truly and honestly have their cake and eat it too? There's functionally no reason to move away if she has a portal gun that can accurately pinpoint locations thousands of miles away and be used on a whim. The introduction of the portal gun as a concept makes Nani's move to California at the end of the movie totally nonsensical.
Anyone else feel like there's money laundering going on with these things? I don't know anyone who went to see this movie.
Nani abandons Lilo in Hawaii to move to California? I only made it halfway through the movie. Portal gun? Jesus Christ I am glad I turned it off. Isn't the whole point of the original ohana?
She got a full ride which would include free board, and I’m sure she does want some of the real college experience (and don’t you perverts take that too much the wrong way now). I mean the point isn’t so she doesn’t actually have to go to college, her life was interrupted by her parents dying and this is just her being able to get back to what she planned her life to be about
She doesn’t abandon Lilo, all the characters and bubbles become a new family and basically live at the house as Lilo’s found family which Nani is still a part of too. Yes though this shit is loopy, just not nearly as offensive as people say
Yes, but in this movie the critical scene from the original has Nani directly state that it's not realistic and the scene is basically treated as a joke scene. And yes she has a portal gun, which the film explains she'll use to visit Lilo sometimes, except the portal gun has no clear limitations whatsoever so there's no reason she couldn't just stay in Hawaii with her sister.
You're saying the movie needs to outwardly mock the intelligence of its younger viewers to get better engagement from them?
This is the ultimate issue that is making it succeed
Take the film on its own watching first time, as if this is the first Stitch film? It’s fine enough plot wise. You have to actually think about the implications it has, the intended theme, and the original film to realize how bad it is
Which I wouldn’t expect kids to make it without being told, but the average adult movie-goer to live action films is too much of cattle to ever think about what they watch for a moment
Leaving behind your life on a smaller Hawaiian island with the last living piece of your family because you want the "real college experience" of living in a crowded dorm in SoCal
So movie Nani's just retarded then?
family being important to you doesn't mean you cant have your own dreams and aspirations
arrested development suburbanite offended that a fictional young person seeks bigger opportunities
One doesn’t tread on the other nearly as much as people say. They are less alone as a family in the live action version, so once they all understand they are a family and support one another, it is sensible to be able to continue your own life as well
She could already seek bigger opportunities though. She has a portal gun. She could have her cake and eat it too. What benefit is there to living in a crowded shitty dorm in SoCal if we're seriously just leaving anything sexual off the table?
It's a fucking ten year old girl who is a total outcast and already depressed from losing her parents.
Dude I know you hate college but that’s how you become a marine biologist. This shit is reasonable, man
Anon she
She doesn't need to live there
She has a portal gun
"Living the real college experience" isn't an opportunity for a better life, it's just fucking around on campus for a few years
The opportunities come from her degree and networking potential, which she could get anyway because she has a FUCKING PORTAL GUN
they could do anything why would they only do normal young person things after having their youth was taken from them in the form of a family tragedy???
shitty crowded dorm
You can slander college all you want but that’s just not the way it is. A full ride at a nice school? That’s like refusing to stay at a resort for free that you can teleport to
It ruins the meaning of Ohana because it views Lilo as an obstacle, an obstruction in Nani's life.
Teach a kid that they're always in the way of others, such an uplifting, empowering, loving message
Jewish hands typed this. Shoo, shoo and shill your agenda somewhere else, needlenose
Anon she
Wants to make friends her
Age in a university setting
You
Are autistic
The movie is about that healing process, both the original and remake. Both are about Lilo learning she is loved and not alone and that her family is not permanently broken (no your 18 year old sister going to college does not make your family broken)
You will never have sex with a whale
Landwhales do not count
Y'all niggas are missing the forest for the trees, Nani could be filthy rich with a portal gun by just buying cheap goods from the mainland and reselling them in Hawaii for a locally marked-down price that would still be way above the cost she paid for them. The portal gun breaks basically the entire narrative of the movie, it'd function a lot better without it even if it would make Nani look kind of shitty.
The real college experience is fucking retarded. Staying in a dorm is 100% ass and anyone who thinks it is great is delusional.
sadly this, the audience’s compulsive consumerism just feeds the trend
what weird is how the audience contradict itself, they cry all the time how shit the product is but most of them still eat the slop the good goys they are
You do networking by fucking being present at the college, dumbo. You do networking by living with your roommates, going to events, the more sober parties, walking around campus, all this shit. Come on, it’s a campus, what don’t you understand
That's why the friendly and supportive neighbor lady was introduced, you stupid faggot.
The best college for marine biology in the United States is in Hawaii.
But why when the original narrative worked just fine you stupid nigger?
Lilo isn’t an obstacle by the time of the film’s resolution.
No Lilo has no abandonment issues or real feelings to speak of, you only develop feelings during puberty and student loan debt doesn't exist
High chance that Lilo lost her new home in wildfires
That Nani is going to be a turbo-feminist who espouses Palm Springs bomber views on family
She can do that, she has a portal gun. Do you not understand the concept of a portal gun? She can be there as long as she wants and hang out with people as long as she wants, then hop right back to Hawaii to be with her family. The portal gun makes distance completely irrelevant. If she genuinely wants to leave behind the last remnant of her family for the sake of living in a college setting just to visit her every now and then, she's retarded.
Did you just stay in your dorm all day? Do you know what a campus is? At the very least you know people going into science study, collectively and individually, in study halls full of resources and other scientists and professors who are there to teach you shit, right? Not everyone just goes to class and goes back to their home desk
Lahaina said no to SAG-AFTRA building studios there, therefore they deserved to burn
She is, if Nani feels trapped by being with her
living with your roommates
Literally unnecessary for networking, 99% of the time this amounts to nothing
going to events
Portal gun
the more sober parties
Portal gun
walking around campus
Portal gun
The portal gun breaks the narrative anon, what don't you understand.
Nani got a full ride to the school, she will have no debt
She’ll turn into a feminist terrorist!
That’s your neurosis, it’s not in the movie.
Because they're focusing more on how this affects Nani than they did in the original film.
They're exploring how the death of parents affects the older child too.
Dumb bitch.
I get the other things but I've literally never known a single college graduate that ended up getting networking opportunities through their roommates. They're just people you share space with for a few years.
I didn't make any friends because i refused to get drunk, so i was boring and no fun.
Neighbour character still rubs me the wrong way, Nani being the one to get Lilo a dog speaks more volumes to me about Nani being a good sister than a neighbour.
If she can come and go whenever she wants, why would she need to portal before and after every class? Does she need to warp in for as long as possible every 45 minutes? You realize in the movie she actually did portal out of her dorm to spend the night sleeping with Lilo, right? They show her not sleeping in the dorm anyways.
She wants to live
At university with her
Friends and visit her family
On weekends
Like normal young people do
You autistic arrested development dweeb
Now tell me who inflates the tires on the batmobile?
Nani didn't want to go to college in the original, she wanted to surf.
It's a solution for a problem they created
Have this thread yesterday
Everyone agrees that the portal gun idea is retarded and makes Nani's decision basically moot
Today
Ten billion excuses for why she has to be physically present at her college at all times
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Bingo. Not to mention her relationship on the Island now and finding new family with two weird aliens and the alien dog.
It's a logical conclusion
Hawaii has better marine biology courses
She never said she'd come back
You're simply assuming that based off idealizations of experiences you never had (you're already erasing any negative scenario simply because they make college sound bad)
Are you following every Lilo and Stitch outrage thread? Lol
even living with roommates is a retarded counter-argument because even with your roommates you socialize the most outside the dorm
dorm roommates irl are mostly a pain in the ass, you can’t sleep when they are studying all night for an exam, and you can’t study in peace for an exam all night because they won’t shut up about how they can’t sleep with the light on
so socializing with roommates/others is mostly lunch break at the campus which is easily solved with the portal gun
print money
I see that Disney's buying their own tickets again.
Almost like the college helped fund the movie and they were hoping to trap a bunch of audience members into the idea that the government will pay for their entire education at all times
See now you've hit the nail on the head, this is effectively a different character that doesn't place emphasis on her family. Because the original Nani would balk at this but this movie's Nani cares more about college and hypothetical friends she doesn't actually have yet than her family.
literal fanfiction posts
accuses others of making shit up
Did you go to study hall and learn in your field of study from the professors and TAs who are obligated by the college to put in hours there just to teach students individually and directly?
California is the only state with any working schools
Doxbait reply by someone who likely helped deliberately light Maui's wildfires
Imagine replying to your own post twice lmao
KWAB
Yes, and it did not help me get a job afterwards. Networking is a scam.
Anon, I...
American colleges do not operate like Canadian colleges, anon
We're talking UCLA, not U-Vic
This lol. Why are people so obtuse
the original Nani literally complained about lack of time to pursue her own hobbies and relationships
did you even watch the animated movie? she wanted to fuck that fire dancer dude so bad but she knew she couldn't because she didn't want to make Lilo jealous
She was a surfer in the original
This is presenting Hawaii as a whole as a place of entrapment with no resources or forms of education whatsoever
Yeah this is what bugs me, the friends are hypothetical. Thinking you’ll make friendships lasting a lifetime during your college days is retarded, at least be real and have her say she wants to find a boyfriend (probably her future husband) at college
I think 90 percent of the posters here are bots who want to present the live-action remake as the original version
It’s a completely different situation in this movie. Imaging the original character being judgemental and pissy about it is pathetic. It’s not even in her character
What do you mean?
It's best just to treat Nani in this movie as a completely separate character, her motivations and outlooks are completely different. OG Nani would have fucking killed a nigga to stay with Lilo, remake Nani wants to live her own separate life entirely. Does this shit on the original message of the movie? Yes. But this is a fundamentally different movie wearing the skin of the original's.
I went to Univeristy of Alabama and it worked like that
It’s not entrapment, she just wants to travel to the great college she got a full ride in
It is in a sense that people who benefit from networking 99% of the time didn’t build the connections themselves, they just having their parents call old friends
That you're too dumb to get the animated version is the original. Modern audiences will now assume the cartoon is a remake or retelling of the live-action version
Absolutely brutal character assassinations.
the great college
Hawaii has colleges, and better MB courses than California
Maybe Nani thinks all Hawaiian culture is "dirty" and wants to become white-passing
Well you are a coping schizo after all
It's best just to treat Nani in this movie as a completely separate character, her motivations and outlooks are completely differen
Basically. So? I feel like you guys have a hard time trying to deal with canonicity and applying it where it doesn’t need to exist. This really was just a movie
But you really should accept that wanting to go to college as you had previously planned, is not evil or abandonment or low in chars yet
funny because Disney hated the original and gave the animators no money to make it, it become one of Disney biggest money makers
the original came out 23 years ago, even someone after lobotomy would know the animated film isn’t a retelling
So you’re just going to invent racism now on the character, which doesn’t exist? On this one her island is smaller. It doesn’t have a city, they say that. Also, Marine Biology is Hawaii minded, ocean scientist, tropical fish, etc
which isn’t realistic because afaik Hawaiians are pretty proud of their culture, they don’t have self-loathing mentality like most US citizens
wanting to leave your ten year old sister after your parents just died isn’t evil or low in character
bruh
Yes
But smol
But DACITEEEEE
These are excuses to demonize Hawaii as an undeveloped, unincorporated, backwoods, rural state, a Tropical Indiana.
Hawaii has cities and universities, obviously the problem here, for Nani, is its culture
You guys are so fucking childish you actually thought Nani was the goddess of family and constant contact. She was a frustrated kid who was forced into the role of a single mother after her parents died, and after a healing journey, she hugged her family and said nice things about always being there for her now, like any parent does. It wasn’t because she’s the Valkyrie of Sisterhood, it’s because she’s celebrating with her sister after their family is back together. That doesn’t mean she’s a zealot for staying home, she just had less to get back to in the first movie
ya seethe?
Exactly and it's true. Nani in the original was isolated and desperate. She had no support system after her parents died. She's all Lilo has and she has dedicated her life to just be her sister mother. Movie Nani isn't just propped up with someone who is accepted into a prestigious college and has neighbors who can help with Lilo. They are the ones pushing her to go to college and Nani is the one saying no. The live action having the events line up the way they do, CPS being separated from the CIA by now being two different characters offers also a different situation and solution.
The frustration here is people believing it's a 1:1 remake until the end where Nani shrugs off Lilo and persues her dreams.
If dreams require isolation to thrive, they are too fragile to implement IRL
Lilo and Nani have argument over Nani going to college
Lilo doesn’t want to be the one to limit Nani’s dreams and Nani doesn’t want to abandon her last family member
Neither will move their stance
Stitch interrupts them to point to portal gun
ohshit.png
Flash to to present
Nani travels to and from college with portal gun daily and returns to house with Lilo, neighbors overwatch her for the hours Nani is in California but Nani keeps custody and is there daily until she graduates and later works in Hawaii
Everyone is happy in their Ohana and they made their dreams work
That’s it. That’s ALL they had to do to make it all work. This is the most basic level writing. How do people get paid not to do this
rayciss i guess
Why does Nani need to go to California at all when one of the best places in the world to study for a degree in Marine Biology is Hawaii?
Why even have her go to California? Why not just write that she goes to college in Hawaii?(The Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology is right fucking there)
That's literally what they do. Are you trolling? That's how the movie ends.
Nani's motivations in this film are completely different than the original. Nani wants to go to college and live her own life away from Lilo, as opposed to the original where family was the main focus so of course she was trying her damndest to stay with her little sister. This movie focuses on moving on and restarting your life from where it left off, the original is about rebuilding a new family now that you've lost your old. They're going for completely different things.
Here's the actual fucking problem. It's a remake that's been advertised as maintaining the spirit of the original. The movie does not do this. It's a remake that explores a completely different side of the original's premise and has characters completely rewritten or outright missing as a result. But people are inevitably going to think of the original because it's been outright advertised as holding true to the original and it's a remake of an original movie.
Saying that Nani leaving Lilo behind to visit her every now and then is bad is retarded because she's narratively not Nani from the original movie and this fits her motivations. Saying that she absolutely needs to be on campus at all times in order to network and experience college life is retarded because plenty of people do that without literally living on campus. These are all moot arguments because this is fundamentally a different movie, the greatest sin of which is advertising itself as being a true remake when it's an alternative exploration of the original. Everything you people are arguing about is fundamentally a result of this not just being an original movie or being more truthful in its advertising.
She had to go to California because the people who made the movie live there and they think everywhere else is inferior.
And that's why Nani chooses Lilo. But the neighbors are there to help and the portal gun keeps them together.
The original was weird because Nani and Lilo were isolated. No one stepped in to help.
Trying too hard
It would be the same end result as this.
They live on KauaÊ»i not the main island, she still wouldn’t be able to be a commuter if they chose a Hawaii college instead of California. Doesn’t work like continental US where you can just drive a hour back and forth
He doesn’t know because he’ll never see it
Hover car
No it isn’t, she gives full custody to the neighbors and occasionally visits while living in Cali.
Its subtle but it’s the difference that makes something work vs ruin it
were going to use your sisters medical bills and americans horrible health insurance to force you to give up custody
What the fuck
The new one has both themes and shows that you don’t have to abandon someone to get back to your life after a tragedy, in the sense that it’s not abandonment because you are still a family. She didn’t ‘want to get away from lilo’, did you even see the movie? Or did you just glean the thread and write a response out like an AI?
Here's the actual fucking problem. It's a remake that's been advertised as maintaining the spirit of the original. The movie does not do this.
But people are inevitably going to think of the original because it's been outright advertised as holding true to the original and it's a remake of an original movie.
Everything you people are arguing about is fundamentally a result of this not just being an original movie or being more truthful in its advertising.
I'd say this is truly if I weren't familiar with the genuine autism on this site. You made assumptions. You assumed wrong. If you watch the movie, the first thing you're hit with is a huge difference: Nani has supportive neighbors and they encourage her to go to college. She has already declined. They dug the application letter out of the trash and give it back to her.
Yeah if you watch the movie, the advertising doesn't present this and I don't think most anons ITT watched it either.
I've not seen this movie and the responses in this thread read contradictory to each other from people that have both claimed to have seen the movie and people that haven't claimed to have seen it. I've been reading these threads just kind of enjoying the back and forth but honestly I can't tell what the actual fuck the actual contents of this movie are beyond Jumba being the main villain now. Like that's literally it, everything else I've read reads like people have either not seen the movie or have seen a completely different movie from each other.
It’s completely realistic
I'm not sure if you're retarded or autistic.
Probably only five of us have seen the movie here. I’m one of them and the shit people are making up just from a few lines of green text is hysterical
Anons have the habit of posting opinion as fact. They show that anonymity kills truth faster because there is no tracking of liars and reliable sources. As a result, facts are more memelike in that they're just repeated and reacted to, but hardly validated.
The truth is the live action is different from the original 5 mins in and the differences keep stacking up until we get a different ending.
what will angel look like
Now you're getting it! It's extremely likely that nobody in these threads has actually seen the movie.
Children are to perceived as obstacles preventing you from accomplishing your dreams.
No wonder kids these days can't even read
So your stupid ass really thinks this movie is about Nani trying to get away from Lilo? Why try so hard to reach a fair conclusion about w movie ypu haven’t even seen
This thread has a vibe.
Le soulless hack film
let’s talk emotional depth, because the remake doesn’t just tug at your heartstrings—it grabs them, twists them, and makes you sob like you’ve just been dumped by your childhood crush. The 2002 original leaned heavily on its quirky charm and slapstick humor, but its emotional beats, while sweet, often felt like a surface-level Pixar knockoff. The 2025 live-action version, however, dives headfirst into the raw, messy reality of Lilo and Nani’s relationship as orphaned sisters struggling to stay together in a world that’s against them. The remake amplifies Nani’s role as a young woman buckling under the pressure of guardianship, giving her a nuanced arc that resonates with anyone who’s ever had to grow up too fast. Lilo, meanwhile, is portrayed with a fierce authenticity that captures her as a grieving, eccentric kid navigating loss and identity. The original gave us cute moments; the remake gives us a gut-punch of real, lived-in familial love that’s more relatable and devastatingly human.
I'm officially not trusting these threads anymore, pretty sure people are just making shit up to either support or bash the movie depending on which side they've decided to fall under.
Anon Babble suddenly believes child healthcare should be free while massive cuts to Medicaid are happening
The best way for a child to get care from the state is to become a ward of the state. Even if Nani loses Lilo for a bit, she can get back on her feet and be more ready for her. Part of what's odd about the movie, both original and remake is that Lilo's mischieve, being a troubled child, is played in such a way that invites the audience to be sympathetic to her. You aren't supposed to think "God, Lilo is such a little shit", you're supposed to forgive her for being an oddball paired with a wild alien fugitive and the antics that ensue from that. The live action starts with Lilo as more of a troublemaker, as in she trespasses and frees chickens and uses resort equipment. People are telling her "no" and she's doing it anyways. When that interferes with Nani's efforts to keep them together, you feel more sorry for Nani and less "aw she was just taking care of Stitch who she doesn't know is an alien being chased by a well armed mad scientist".
I dream of the day that the Lost Tribe from Mad Max becomes reality
Eh, there are always idiots deep in Plato´s cave.
Most recently: morons saying The Eternaut copy series that came way after 1957.
You know I'm right
Now it's not enough for the education system to mock flyovers, they have to mock every culture they perceive as "non-liberal"
That doesn't happen though. Anons have defended their hatred of the movie by admitting they feel misled. When that's the new criticism against something, it's clear that some people think that only the ending changed, which isn't true and would be dumb.
Nani chose Lilo in the original animated film, she doesn't in this, instead she chooses the scam of common core education and an environment that will reinforce negative views of family
This isn't the case of the neighbors acting as saviors, this is entirely the case of Nani considering Lilo to be dead weight
People are also starting to confuse the two versions' endings and even come up with nonexistent compromise scenarios to justify the new version
What's the nonexistent compromise solution? The portal gun is really in the movie and they use it to visit each other easily.
All healthcare should be free.
You shouldn't have to put yourself in crippling debt for the rest of your life to just have the chance to not die.
Did you even see the movie? You are the one getting confused
No way, cartoon Lilo was relatable but was visibly doing bad things, it’s pretty much the same only one is a cartoon giving fire to the dog and crawling into the laundry machine, and one’s a live action girl so it looks less cartoonish
That's good, but part of Nani's real life troubles are things like health care for herself and Lilo.
She was a defiant little sister, a typical sibling dynamic, but Lilo in the movie was actively worse. She even says the line "you like trouble, huh?" to Stitch as in it's not just her quirk, it's her actively meaning to do things you aren't supposed to. When she knows Nani is struggling to keep her.
A very American post.
It is! And Hawaiians are American. They say as much in the movie.
Lilo got all her knowledge on how to help stitch from her own experience being a troubled person. In the cartoon she’s still screaming and throwing fists and biting kids, come on
kids
Yes kids. Kids who are mean to her. A sister who she fights with as siblings do. In the movie she's disobeying neighbors, freeing their chickens, stealing from fishermen, and trespassing on resort property to use the amenities and lie to people.
That’s the more forgivable stuff, really. Biting a kid is way worse than fucking with the neighbor’s chickens
Biting a kid who was mean to you. She's bullied and she stuck up for herself. It's bad, she shouldn't have bitten her, but doing something like that to someone who is antagonizing you versus the trouble she causes for people who didn't do anything to her, harming people who didn't do anything to her because she thinks it's fun, is worse.
They're probably planning to redeem Jumba in the sequel...that may never see the light of day. It's over for Nani though.
It's funny how Jumba/Pleakley and Pleakley being a huge fag are canon in like every continuity (and boy, is there a lot of them!), but the remakes known for adding gratuitous woke crap went and removed it. What the fuck were they thinking? Is this intentional ragebait, or are they trying to appeal to the right now?
movie gets rid of brown girlboss bullshit
forces her to give child up to the state while she goes to college and learns to code instead of being a low-value human raising her sister as the same
largely removes any jokes at the expense of whites/tourists in hawaii
villain role is shifted from military leader to scientist
Wow, I really expected Anon Babble to love this new remake for some reason.
Abloo bloo, I can't leave for college because my sister is going to be taken away by the government
Has a support system with a kindly neighbour
Hawaii has three of the top Marine Biology schools in the world
Native Hawaiians get their tuition paid for by the state
The more you look at it, the more this movie is actually propaganda, holy shit
The chicken is nothing, the fish is worse but still not so terrible, sneaking into a resort is beyond harmless, could not relate to someone who considers this wrongdoing or harm to another. Each adult figure recognized lilo and though we’re annoyed, seemed to basically put up with it. Lilo’s about the same in each
You can't be that suprised a site full lf NEETs and burnouts and loners are vulnerable to a line like "Nobody gets left behind, or forgotten."
The noble lie is one hell of a drug.
She got a full ride, her island was tiny and without a city, she didn’t abandon lilo to the state or anything, she uses the neighbor’s support to go to the college that offered her a full ride. Whats the propaganda?
Except many outside of Anon Babble are also criticising this remake for abandoning the original's line. Turns out that people in general really loved that line
I could see it working if she got accepted into UCLA, but not any of the Hawaiian ones because because they're already topped up from all the free tuition. Maybe with an argument with Bubbles implying he sent it in to every Marine Biology college "by accident."
We're entering a point in time where literally everything is going to be propaganda, out of necessity, to prop up a failing state. Buckle up.
Shut the fuck up. Nani effectively gave Lilo up to the state so they pay her tuition fees and fly to Cali, despite that being a huge waste of time since it's cheaper to travel across state. Hawaii isn't that big, she can travel pretty easily to the other islands.
b-but the portal gun
Fuck off, cowardly hacks and their plot device
That's already been the case though. The entire MCU and Top Gun get defense budget spending to support the US military and airforce.
No, she got a full ride in the movie, to a college she wanted to go to, and she gives custody to her neighbor who might even be related to her? Hard to tell
announce unnecessary live action remake of one of the most soulful, and unfortunately, lucrative disney movies
it's direct to streaming, so the budget is peanuts
they change their minds, it's a regular movie now
now it looks like shit AND you can't easily get your hands on a good copy without paying the rat to see this slop in the cinema
fuckton of random changes to the plot that shit all over the original movie and don't even seem to cut costs
it's a huge hit, and there might be a sequel in the works
Words cannot express how much I hate this shit.
It’s not as bad as you think dummy
Yes, it's worse.
You know it's shills because not even xitter sisters defend it
I already accepted defeat on this one since the announcement, Stitch is like minecraft they could have done anything and printed money.
Pack it in, Disney Haet Faggots. There's always Fantastic Four threads to squat in.
Disney will surely collapse in 2 More Months!
Xitter sisters are also reacting to the ending difference without the context of how Nani's situation is much different, how they have supportive neighbors.
the greater film industry is beyond salvation.
has been for decades, retard. The 90s was full of jokes about how bad movies were getting which, now, all seem quaint and tame because of how quickly reality has outpaced satire. Even average audiences could see how things were being dumbed down back then, but nobody could have predicted the level of sycophantic corporate degenaracy that the box office has rebooted itself into after two solid decades of MCU and ZERO new successful ideas.
i honestly feel the portal gun is only a thing due to the rings from the sonic films. there was none in the og film
Or the game Portal. Or Rick and Morty. Or it's a common science fiction quick fix for many narrative problems. Did you not see the movie? They even did the infinite falling portal loop thing.
i seen rev say desu defend it but he is a massive faggot married to a hog fucking all the niggers in town
yes i know portals exist, i just saying they copying popaler shit.
Iirc, The Pekele's don't live on that Island; otherwise Stitch would've run there and did his thing. Even if Nani went to a Hawaiian College, barring some kind of brainbreakingly reasonable remote class, she'd still be away from Lilo, even jf in the same State.
I'm pretty sure the tuition system is set up so that doesn't happen for natives of the islands, but whatever
That doesn't change it being a forced cop-out for the audience to not thinki about the impliactions that Nani, STILL gave up custody of Lilo.
I agree actually it’s something of a hand wave. This movie did not go how CPS goes, though having a CIA agent pull strings for them is how they made it work in the first movie too
The audience, having seen the movie that shows Nani declining college at first, having seen the support and encouragement they have from the neighbors, and everything else, is better prepared to see this difference. The outrage here is divorced from that context.
There's no excuse for her to give everything away, then. Why pretend her life has burdens if all the tension is as fake as the characters' feelings
Exactly, Bubbles was CIA and CPS in the first one.
I really don't think it matters, because Hawaii is a singular state. What sense does it make to say the free tuition doesn't apply to them?
barring some kind of brainbreakingly reasonable remote class, she'd still be away from Lilo, even jf in the same State.
She'd still be closer to Lilo and her home than in fucking California, which costs way more. It's a moot point anyway because the portal gun, which again, is the cowards way out when writing because she doesn't have to face any kind of conseqences for anything.
They want young audiences to fight cops and CPS workers when they expect custody to magically return to them
Nani won't get Lilo back when she returns
This whole thread really thinks the ending proves this will happen, that the portal gun proves it.
There's also the false expectation of the neighbors never leaving or moving to a new place, that they'd choose to stay in the same spot forever until death
The happy ending came more from Alien legal mumbo jumbo than Bubbles being CIA, though I imagine having an MiB-esq relationship with the Galactic Council helped.
That's all besides the point however. The point is it was Stitch, who helped keep them together as a family and strengthen their bonds, which this movie doesn't have, at all really
Raising Lilo as a single mother while going to school for science is a burden, people wreck themselves doing that or can’t do it at all. That makes sense to you, right? Now she can act as the big sister she is
Just drown Lilo and pretend it was an accident
No they don’t
What are you talking about, they did all the same stuff with Stitch as they did in the first movie. The resolution was still that Stitch learned to be good because they are a good family, the movie ends with them both sleeping cuddling with stitch
The overall fucking point is, the ending shoots the message of the original in the face. Nani, regardless of context or reasoning, gave up cutosdy of Lilo, and no matter how anyone tries to dress it up or downplay it, is fucked on every possible level
Also there's zero proof that the neighbors would trust Lilo with handling alien tech recreationally.
What's with this thread-wide mandate of "the ending makes wacky TV spinoffs possible" when no one is hoping for that
Nani gave up Lilo. Nani in the original fought to keep her in every sense, even literal when Gantu shows up. The legal hoopla was just a way to tie it all up.
That is the difference between these movies.
It's better to be an island, anon, just accept it like everyone else in the thread
You're not getting a TV spinoff of Lilo and Stitch traveling the world
It was for sure a have your cake and eat it too movie. Re watching the older movie recently Lilo was 100% not normal. Call it autistic nero what ever she was not a normal functioning human.
She swam somewhat far into the ocean alone to feed sandwiches to fish she attacks someone she then proceeds to run home alone and nail the door shut. Her relationship with stich is based on this. They are both misfits and thats why he is tolerated and even loved despite how insane his antics are. Nani deals with most of this and does not even get mad alot of the time. The original Nani is actually damn near a fucking saint. She KNOWS once lilo goes in the system there is no way anyone adopts her she will be floating around or in a group home where its very unlikely she will adapt.
That point did not really hit me when i was younger but as an adult where ive actually met people who grew up in the system its like a silent ever looming threat that IS very scary and would likely dominate every thought Nani has.
The live action all of a sudden there is a grandma figure who just takes all that weight away. Lilo isn't weird at all and is 100% normal honestly there is health care for people who dont have jobs and shit so im not even sure what the conflict was. The house wasnt a mess lilo didnt really act crazy or lie to the social worker about being hit with bricks and shit. The issue was Nani being unemployed for a week? didn't seem like there was much if any conflict to justify the story this time around. Lilo didn't have much if anything to relate to with stich for sure like 0 reason to keep him around.
The plot jsut didnt work the same with the changes there was no weight to anything i think we all knew the grandma would jsut take care of lilo she was pretty much already doing it.
It's not because these are two different movies, two different situations. Had Bubbles not had also been the CPS case worker, had he been someone with no power, Nani would just lose Lilo after the house blew up. And she'd need that help! She can sell the property, downsize, work, and make a better life for Lilo once she's able to provide a stable life for her.
It takes shooting down the promise of a spinoff to make the shills crack
I don’t care about rebooting some fucking Disney channel animated series, even if it was good. It wouldn’t be good now and I dont judge movies based off spinoff potential
Yeah she’s quite the indigo child in this one, but she’s mostly just as unusually smart in the original too
