Have they made (You) smile?
Have they made (You) smile?
Nah not really, not very bad but kinda eh overall.
Here and there sometimes even giggle so I guess so
occasionally
Yes
I've gotten a few laughs off them.
By far the very best episode is the pilot, "Desmond's Big Day Out".
Some fans also deem Gwimbly as the best Smiling Friends episode. Will the S3 premiere continue this trend by kicking off with another banger?
I'm already tired of it as of Season 2. I get it the joke is that they stutter and have realistic conversations about absurd cartoon shit, the novelty of it wore off after season 1
I'm 39 and my wife had a miscarriage in January.
I don't smile.
yes but i was always nervous the show was gonna go to shit.
it's the same with oneyplays, like for ten in a row it'll feel like fuck yeah these are my guys, then just.. some shit.. not usually from Zach, but still.. some shit that makes me frown and these are not my guys.
yes, but i grew up watching psychicpebbles's stuff so im biased.
that fucking sucks dude. my mom miscarried one before me. You can keep trying
especially if you have a wife young enough to conceive, and you're my age. that's... massively lucky. Ima just drop a prayer your way ~just on credit~
that fucking sucks dude
I read that in Charles's voice
Do you reckon Zach gets so uppity about Christianity nowadays because he has a hard time reconciling in his faith with the existence of Christian pedophiles?
Yes. Hearty belly laughs and smiles for days.
LMAO!
just blatantly rips off spunchbeb
Zach and Michael should be ashamed of themselves
to be fair he's a pretty big fan
why did 1 11 minute episode need 8 storyboarders? how the fuck does that even work
hmmm i dont like the idea of zach liking spongebob. its too genuine for him.
Yes, because I'm not a stick in the mud contrarian who hates when things are popular.
I still remember watching Season 1 as it was being premiere-marathoned on TV and feeling like the characters didn't have a particularly solid foundation. I guess I feel a little less like that after having seen S2 and getting used to them. But the "it's all just jokes" structure means they still don't feel entirely consistent. Like Allan doesn't seem like he likes any of them but they'll end an episode on hahaha nom hahaha nom hahaha nom or laughing with pim but then he's back to wanting to avoid everyone.
Everyone likes spongebob
Allan just has a low silliness tolerance. But unlike Charlie who just sits there and complains, Allan actually does something about it.
the yellow sponge program
I hate this kind of "humour," referring to a piece of media with a quirky alt name. I see this a lot in Smiling Friends circles, where fanartists will dub their work "the grinning pals" or "chuckling chums."
Not the end of the world, but it bugs me somethin' fierce
... was the episode any good?
I do too but it's an all-encompassing problem of modern humor.
I hope they actually keep the worldbuilding consistent. Stuff like Pim's apartment or the fact he's known Charlie for roughly 7 years. I appreciate little things like that in an otherwise chaotic comedy cartoon, keeps it somewhat grounded.
Do they charge a fee or is the entire organization crowd-funded? Does Mr. Boss have a business on the side?
keep the worldbuilding consistent
Earth was spherical in season 1 but flat in season2
worldbuilding in the most literal sense is not consistent
It's a charity.
That Spongemerch money's gotta go somewhere. Might as well employ as many people as you can even if the quality of the final product doesn't need to be much more than "watchable."
I liked Oneyplays but I feel like I'm too old for Smiling Friends. The mumbly improv style just irritates me, it felt like a more manufactured version of Oneyplays
Well, it IS a scripted series that requires a year of meticulous designing, animation, and editing before releasing. That's a pretty major departure from an informal audio podcast.
Not him but I didn't even think we saw the earth in season 1. I feel kinda bad now knowing that since it means they will toss anything out there for a gag. I do like when a show has a basic grounded entry point and isn't just fully inconsistently insane like Uncle Grandpa.
You like Family Guy don't you?
Not really? First 3 seasons were fine. I don't know why this has to be an "us vs them" style argument for no reason just because I think SF would be more entertaining knowing they won't discard basic things or consistent characterization for a gag. That's something I was already wondering about during Season 1.
Yeah, but how does it stay funded? Could make an episode where they're in financial trouble and dealing with it.
Multiple times. I'm looking forward for season 3.
Okay, you can still write a loose script and then do improv scene-by-scene. My issue with the writing is that the characters interrupting each other sounds scripted, and that really takes me out of the experience when the show is supposed to be irreverant and wants me to feel its dialogue is organic
Don't hold your breath. This shit ain't coming out till 2026 at the earliest x.com
