2010s Modern Family Guy and 2020s Modern Family Guy aren’t the same.
Pretty much this, seasons 4 and 5 are definitely different than the pre-cancellation seasons but still maintain some of the charm and wit those had. Season 6 is where you really start to feel things going awry.
Even as early as Season 3, you can see the signs of where Family Guy would go.

People who watch Family Guy want audiences to laugh and mock at and feel sorry for the Griffins similar to the characters of It's Always Sunny

Putting the series on in the background a couple years back was the first time I'd actually seen the show "in order". What surprised me most was how bad season 2 was compared to 1 and 3. I'd put season 4 slightly below season 2, then dropped it at season 5.
