Any good comics about boxing?
Any good comics about boxing?
Lastman, it had a show on vrv too
Joe Palooka
mirin the roid vascularity. his arms got dick veins
I dunno
Ashita no Joe
All the good boxing and martial arts comics come from Japan. You'd be hard pressed to find a single western comic book that portrays the beauty and psychology of combat sports as well as something like Shamo does.
portrays the beauty and psychology of combat sports
Because that's the part that doesn't exist IRL.
The Boxer webcomic, yes, it's Korean.
Why are western sports comics so scarce anyway?
Baru's L’Enragé was pretty good.
You wouldn't get it.
heh i'm just watching it right now
already pass Rikiishi's death
Star Impact
I'm not saying there's no strategy to it, I'm just saying that IRL it's all a bunch of retards hitting each other until they become more retarded who are all only in it for the money being herded and ruled by a bunch of corrupt referees fixing the matches.
Are boxing gloves a negative or a positive for a boxer's health?
Faggot
Ever since the sport switched from bare knuckle to gloves brain injuries also increased tenfold
It's the same thing that happened with football pads, surface level injuries decreased but brain damage increased
fucking smooth brain jesus christ.
nobody photographed boxers (Ali in particular) better than Neil Leifer.
Page counts and formatting. Manga both in format and culture allows for more decompressed storytelling. You can explore just about any activity an the macro and micro levels in granular detail. As opposed to the western comic culture which is usually more compressed and stricter on page and panel counts. Self publishing is a challenge as well because making a worthwhile attempt is a lot for one guy.
You're comically wrong, boxing at the elite level is constant high speed decision making and nuanced mindgames done under extreme duress.
The manga is finally getting an official release too, second volume came out last month
Powerhouse Pepper
There is none but there is 1000's of drawings of it out there.
that's a mixed bag to say the least.
Western comics are for nerds, nerds hate sports.
yeah if it's shit like jose ramiro draws then yeah but generally it's all good.
Ramiro is like the tip of the iceberg, there's a whole fucking catfight/ryona economy out there, finding the gems or the art that appreciates the sport is a challenge.
Shamo sucks though.
I get it if you don't like the plot, it's certainly very edgy, but the fight scenes are incredible.
art that appreciates the sport is a challenge.
Yeah now you're starting to sounds like this guy not every picture has to follow the layout of professional boxing to a T, a lot of these appreciate it as a sport even if they add spice to it speaking as an artist within the subject myself
I'm not going to say fun and well done stuff isn't out there, but I'll admit I'm a bit jaded. I've fielded enough commissions to grow a distaste for it. So, I apologize if I don't see "Please draw X getting concussed by Y until they vomit whilst sexually aroused" as an appreciation of the sport. If it's there, I don't see it.
"Please draw X getting concussed by Y until they vomit whilst sexually aroused"
Yeah that's an extreme that I don't like myself, a simple mouthpiece spit is enough for me. I'm mainly speaking of quality, not specific subject matter on X picture.
There's lots quality work and artist out there, no doubt. I'm probably more keyed in to and sensitive to the subject matter because of personal experience in the space. I've probably received more disturbing ryona/boxing requests than pornographic ones.
It's understandable to draw a line on what we like to see and how much, I like feet sure but not when things like extreme detail, size, steam, smell starts to come into play so extends to the ryona/boxing equivalent. At least you aren't a hater/ brainless fetish pointer, I'm tired of explaining why it's not weird to those guys.
I'm familiar with that headache too, folks tend to push and make things weird.
