Holy shit, it's actually over
How did Rick and Morty drop the ball so hard?

Space Beth episode

Who asked for this?

oh cool more episodes about neither rick or morty

You know how in Looney Tunes Show or in that Krypto the Superdog animated movie, 90% of the jokes were just someone doing something and then it cuts to a character making this reaction?

That's what all the writing feels like for the last few seasons of R&M. Just crazy shit happening and people going, "Meh" all the time.

Show is called Rick and Morty

Rick and Morty barely even show up together.

Have the writers just forgotten the main appeal of the show?
And if you are going to focus on other characters than make it Jerry for fuck sakes! he's one of the only characters in this show I like anymore.

R&M became too meta and for its own good
Every fucking joke is about "deconstructing" a trope

Most will say when Roiland was fired but that was simply the final nail
The real downfall began during season 2 and 3's production when Roiland and Harmon started to clash, many of the OG writers got sick of it all and just left.

Why is Jerry like the only good character left in this show?

But, anon, my female self insert, anon! How could you not like my original character self insert better than what that man, *that man* did? Don't you know he texted 17 year olds?
Now I may have been a filthy slut since I was 13, but it's disgusting that you would prefer what that pig created over my shallow self insert, anon. It's your fault, your toxic masculinity is what is ruining the animation industry.

He still has the naivety that Morty once had
The rest of the family became sociopaths
Originally Beth was supposed to be "out of his league" now I'm wondering why he still stays with her

Walking dead syndrome. The show has been dead since Season 4, but has kept walking thanks to all the cash tied up in it. But it was still dead; only now we see it preparing to drop over. Who knows with AI though, you could see it go a lot of weird placed for a long while yet.

I miss when the Smith family was a mostly normal difunctional family who just happened to have an asshole genius universe hopping granddad.
Now everyone is just Rick

I prey to God Jerry doesn't fall down the same path.

He's the only foil left. Everyone else has gone insane with multiversal power.

Exciting!

Ok that's funny

I don't get what the joke is supposed to be when she tries to call Rick.

Oh good, more emotionally detached girlboss power fantasies. Just what this series was lacking.

And before any accusations of hypocrisy, the show wasn't any better when it was pure Rickwank either.

Every other character has been loaded up with smug self-satisfaction and doucheyness. Jerry being stuck as the butt of all jokes prevented him from joining their ranks as unlikable assholes.

no hype at all

Every other character has been loaded up with smug self-satisfaction and doucheyness

Why did the Rick and Morty writers think this would work? Don't comedies rely on conflict stemming from opposing views? If everyone's copying Rick's mannerisms, wouldn't that mess it all up?

Ten bucks they forgot about that

The fact they brought back "Space Beth" is endemic of the problem. They think that having a character be cool, aloof, and unshakeable is how you make an audience like them. And I mean, it probably did work for Rick early on. But you can't make a cast of exclusively "cool dudes" and go anywhere with that. Exactly like you say.

That's a big part of why Morty and Rick's dynamic became a lot shitter over the years.
Morty is still dumb but instead of being a naïve 14 year old kid he's not just a smart talking asshole just like Rick

Everyone just became Rick! I have to know if the writers are aware of this or not.

We're still doing Beth episodes in Big 2025? If it's not a flashback episode with Beth growing up with an absentee father, then I don't want it.

You have any more Glorp gifs?

Legit I will only start caring when I see loli Beth
I think Rick before he became the asshole we know him as having to look after his psychopath daughter would be interesting.

How they've not done this yet baffles me.

I think it's pretty clear the writers room got packed with feminists in later seasons. You can't NOT make Summer and Beth own 50% or more of episodes without lighting a fuse on those people. This feels like appeasement. Lord knows it's not for fans.

The only series I’ve seen it done successfully was and always will be Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Probably a hidden pilot episode to see if people would watch a space Beth spin-off. I won’t be one of those people.

I feel like that works because that's the difference of making flawed people who the writers know are assholes, and flawed people who the writers think you should think are cool.

I didn't watch a lot of Sunny though, so maybe I'm wrong.

Main difference I think is that Always Sunny's cast normally always gets some sort of punishment for their asshole dumb bullshit.

I don't even think it's that. All the family members were given greater prominence the longer the series ran. The problem lies in how Beth and Summer's characterization and comedic potential keep getting fumbled hard. Jerry on the other hand is one of the remaining non-lore-related highlights.

Summer CAN be funny and she CAN be given intriguing character drama. I don't get why the writers can't be consistent with handling a free-spirited teen girl. Beth has her moments, so I'm interested in seeing how they handle her this season specifically since it's been cited in early reviews that Rick Prime's defeat leads into C-137 Rick having no choice but to deal with his two daughters directly.

The main characters in IASIP still retain distinct personalities and types of jokes they deliver by being horrible people in their own ways too. Rick and Morty writers just hit their mains with the Rickification ray.

No one cares about this character

Never hated this guy, he's just a dork who really loves his family and wants to get along

has doofus rick appeared in the later seasons? anything important about him?

is my right speaker broker or why am I'm not hearing audio from this video?

By taking 2 years to come up with 7 episodes.

I frankly never understood how people could hate Jerry in the first place.
Sure he's stupid and a bit cowedly but have you seen the shit this guy deals with every week?
The fact that he's so normal is what makes him stand out from everyone else. he's the most human character in this stupid show.

So much happens in each episode that I don't mind getting spoiled by the cold open.

Maybe they want a crossover episode with Solar Opposite's Silver Cops?

has doofus rick appeared in the later seasons? anything important about him?

Nope. And that's probably for the best with the way they've been mining classic one-off characters and locations, like Unity and Blips and Chitz. Shit, I'm even a little worried they'll bring back Krombopulous Michael in the new episode.

I don't know but let's keep it that way.

Does anyone, including normies, even like Space Beth?

Beth in general has always been kind of a character I could never get around to liking. Space Beth is just an all around no.

Night Family is one of the best episodes, Jerry's role being just one of many reasons why.

it's not a joke, she's hesitant to ask him to bail her out.

The episode seems poised to show us how space Beth actually isn't as skilled as Rick.

Season 3 tried to meme people into hating him

Smiling Friends previews were worse
They'd be 3 mins long when the episodes themselves are only 11.
I think yolo did the same
May as well release the episodes on YouTube at that point

She has to swallow her pride and admit that she needs Rick's help.

You jest, but they may actually start to do that. It’s very profitable at the moment.

Aww yeah, threesomes are back on the menu.

Space Beth grows a futa space cock and impregnates normal Beth

Probably just background radiation writer's room hatred for their own fathers, making Jerry in their image and being oblivious to his low-key good nature that they take for granted.

I could see this happening, if only because then you have a free plotline for a super-incest baby that happens when someone fucks themself.
