She's the only show in the Judge-Verse to not receive a revival yet.

The Goode Family got a revival?

Trust me, you do not want one. The last time they were considering one, they were planning on making it focused on Jodie.

The Jodie spin off is coming
Trust the plan

because they didnt want to bring her back, they wanted to bring back jodie and just make daria a side character. as much as i liked jodie i dont really want a black main character in this day an age because, well you know.

I was going to say that if it was the same creative team I would be cautiously optimistic about a Jodie focused show because they already made her a well rounded character to begin with, but it's been so long that for all I know the people on the team have changed their sensibilities and such that they wouldn't be able to write her as three dimensionally now. If it's a mostly new creative team, there's really no hope of it being any good at all.

It's probably for the best.

At this rate Downtown is gonna get a revival before Diarrhea does

well rounded but boring as fuck character why would anyone care about a Jofie show. she works only as a foil to Daria or on small glimpses at her plot throughout an episode. Jodie alone with a full new original diverse cast clashing with og cameos would have been horrible

Tbf Daria is a product of her time. Her humor and overall behavior are now considered toxic. She can come across as an unlikable snob, which makes her extremely annoying.

Unless it's set in the late 90s or 2002(the year it ended) it wouldn't work today.

They would Clone High the whole thing, leave her be, it's a minor miracle the original worked in the first place.
Open to cameos.

I'm perfectly fine with Daria never getting a revival. It's way too much of a product of that specific '90s Gen X ennui and obsession with authenticity that any revival would fall completely flat. Much like how a Mission Hill followup could never work because it was a product of Gen X angst over the fact that they were having to grow up and move from lives of slackerdom into settled ones as they move into their 30s.

Some times a show is too much of a product of its time to ever work outside of that and that's perfectly fine. The show can still be enjoyed years, even decades, later by people who weren't part of that generation or even alive for when it aired. But that doesn't mean that it needs to be brought back in the present. There's a reason the Wonder Years reboot didn't work because the original is a piece of Boomer nostalgia for the time of their youth during a time where the world they'd come of age in was rapidly changing as they were hitting 40 or saw it coming.

they were trying but it got cancelled
after cutting jane for jodie i'm sure there was just a huge sigh from the writers thinking "whats even the point"

What? Why? Jodie was an extremely boring character. She was okay as a prissy type A side character, but definitely does not need a whole show.

With good reason. The pitches made for a revival have all been dogshit, ranging from a Jodie spin off to a batshit crazy reboot with Aunt Amy as a psycho soap opera villain

I want to bury my head in between those Morgandorffers!

What the hell? Details on the second one?

IIRC the details:

>Daria and Jodie are BFFs and Jane is Daria's BFF from her old school and Trent is now Jane's twin brother.

>The Fashion Club and Brittany/Kevin switch ages, so the Fashion Club are Daria's contemporaries and Brittany/Kevin are Quinn's age.

>Staci is the step-sister for the new black guy who replaces Mack; something done to basically satisfy corporate policies for one interracial couple.

>Speaking of quotas, Mr DeMartino is now gay and an actual war veteran and had a new fan service design/Daria's mentor. And would have been voiced by Max Martini of Unit/Purge fame due to him being friends with the person who wrote the series bible pitch.

>Writers were told that they could not give Jodie any problems and had to write her as being perfect; when they pointed out that this made her impossible to write, MTV caved only so far as allowing Jodie's season arc to be her thinking Mack's replacement was dating Staci before finding out that they are step-siblings.

>There would be an insane plotline about Aunt Amy, the show's villain, where she was Helen's illegitimate sister who's childhood home was given to Helen in her dad's will when he died. And that she'd end up trying to kill Daria and her family in the finale after spending the bulk of the season trying to steal the house from them.

It doesn't exist, it's the schizo who constantly posts bullshit stories he makes up about behind the scenes shit on old cartoons and comics. May be the same guy who, for a little while, would post "leaked" DC and Marvel plans that were obviously bullshit and kept posting fake stories about Jubilee getting a solo comic. He's severely autistic.

She doesn't need a revival when you can walk outside to meet the real deal.

Funny to think that Daria hide all that under the baggy clothes she wears. Also she's the older one and chose not to be attractive.

muh stronk independent black wimminz

as much as i liked jodie i dont really want a black main character in this day an age because, well you know.

cause you're a dick?

no need to take this into a racist or misogynist direction. Jody is just a boring character.

A revival would have to be a period piece that brought back as much of the orginal cast and crew/creative team as possible.
Otherwise you get what happened to Clone High.

I'd love for Daria to have some speaking lines in the Beavis and Butthead revival.

Don't be. Judge despises Daroa's ongoing and during the first MTV revival, explicitly wanted to declare it non canon because of jealousy over how popular it was and how he got baited by MTV to sign legally binding documents that prevent him from stealing credit for creating her from Glenn Eichler

Shut up faggot

I can't believe that was even in consideration. Literally who was asking for that?

A revival, in theory, would have to fit the actual current canon as outlined by the show own creator: Daria and Jane live in NY now and they're still friends. Trent lives there too. Jane's an artist and she's married, Daria's single and works as a writer for a late night talk show. Jodie's not mentioned.

Mike Judge actually said that?
