When she tweeted she made it up it got negative backlash and she deleted the post. They decided to milk to hugely positive fan reaction by putting it into the show.

Regular Show and Gumball never even shared a timeslot with AT. They were always hours apart. Where does this delusion they were ever competing for viewers come from?
I'm pretty sure AT and RS aired right after one another during their prime. There was even some tribefagging here back in those days, the talkback threads were one after another and at some point Regular Show began to draw higher viewers. Despite Regular Show being more seriously romance-focused in the beginning, it was AT that was more the shipperfag show. AT also had the lore but it was handled in somewhat of a half-assed way at first until pressure from Gravity Falls success made them take their loreshit more seriously (with mixed results). Regular Show was more of a chill program and the concern over Mordecai's romance wasn't taken seriously until the wedding episode which had huge backlash, after which they backed off from it and righted the ship. Meanwhile AT doubled down on poor decisions which led to it becoming the joke it is known as today.
I haven't seen a single adventure time episode since like 2014. Can someone give me a rundown on what happened.
