Histeria! came to a close, marking this the end of the Spielberg/Ruegger series of cartoons that has been around since Tiny Toon Adventures in 1990.
On this day 25 years ago
The only thing I remember of this show as a kid was the disgusting baby and the old man. I feel like it was the least memorable of the WB toons. It did make tiny child me confuse the word "historical" for "hysterical" for a while, much to my embarrassment.
I think it's very strange that the only topics of this show I see recently are thinly-veiled pedo threads.
Spielberg had nothing to do with this, he was at Dreamworks doing Toonsylvania by that point.
Histeria! is 100% Ruegger.
I remember commies got mad at this show because it made fun of Stalin.
Well, one loli guy just showed up so ding ding.
Still same people and it had cameos Yakko and others.
Meh, the show sucked
Yeah the era ended like all franchises and styles, when it turned to shit and made things most people did not like any longer.
Hysteria and Pinky, Elmyra, & the Brain were shit. Fairly expensive to make, had shrinking audiences and most viewers were more into anime at the time.
But not all of them.
Why did late 90s and 2000s cartoons look like shit? Imagine going from high-quality WB cartoons, to crappy geometric, cheap cartoons.
Only to then realize that anime is 20 times worse then the western produced shows they were shitting on, and then SpongeBob SquarePants shown up and there was no going back.
Hamtaro and Kirby Right Back At Ya being the soul 2 exceptions, those were legit.
Not in 1999-2004 or so. Anything anime was huge for the fact that it was anime. That's it. It was a fad at the time.
Japan got black listed because The Animation Guild are a bunch of Korean simps and the LDP set up laws in 2000 that forbid Japan taking in large amounts of foreign money because of how huge Pokémon got and to make sure Japan didn't end up like South Korea where it's just Dooly The Dinosaur, a few Disney knock offs and American/Japanese outsourcing.
How in all fuck are you STILL incapable of grasping that Side A is meant to advertise toys. Side B is not.
you have only had this pointed out to you near daily for about 7 years.
Hamtaro was always mediocre Famicom and I say this as someone whose Nintendo autism made me feel obligated to watch it and collect as many of those Burger King Halloween toys as I could.
Network created shows for national networks with extremely limited airtimes so studios had to spend a lot more to get their little half hour and up the quality across the board to win those highly coveted timeslots
and
Cable created shows with a miniscule fraction of the budget that needed to cut every corner possible. Made for cable channels looking to make a name for themselves starting out.
this is not hard to figure out anon
Pokemania didn't last as long as we remember, we saw it, shows were butchered to death and their original Japanese counter parts were even worse then the local stuff airing (better then it's English dub mind you, but they were still bad) and then SpongeBob shown up on May 1st 1999 and everyone just watched that instead because it knew what people wanted from a cartoon.
It was a neo-UPA style Renaissance. Whether you like the geometric UPA style is a matter of taste.
It wasn't just pokemania, Anime as a thing itself was mainstream huge in the early 00s. People were clinging to any anime series they could find.
No it wasn't, the show itself was just OK but the humans were the ones who made it work and it would've been much better if it was just about Laura and Kana.
The games were better.
I had an animation professor who was teaching around that time. he is still traumatized by the era. He has a special dedicated lecture for senior students about how
No you are not making an anime, no you will not make your anime pilot that you will take with you to Japan and pitch to studios
Yes, until they realize that it was even worse then the western produced animation that was coming out at that time.
Laura Haruna was that exception as it was the only thing that can go toe to toe with SpongeBob.
The right is a call back to the UPA and Hanna Barbera stuff of the 60's, it's intentionally more simply and abstract.
You also have more for faux-retro styles in the 90's, but more looney toons and tex avery. The rest are action cartoons which you can't really compare to comedic ones. The 00's started having less of a focus in action shows because video games were overtaking toy sales
I swear Famicom is one of the most bizarre people I have met. He is fucking DEDICATED to the single minded mission of forcing the whole World to adopt his imagined version of specific 90s cartoon entertainment ratings reality as hard as possible. And has remained dedicated on this mission for 15 years. He will at any point of any day on any discussion forum appear to tell us all about how Hamtaro and tiny toons was the greatest thing ever that dwarfed all other entertainment, and with the same level of zeal today as he had in 2009 on Toonzone.
If it ever comes to light that he is really the world first shitposting bot that scours for 90s cartoon talk just to repeat the same facts with the same names until the thread dies, that would make perfect sense. Because there is no way a functioning human would do that for that long in that many places.
Powerpuff Girls was a merch juggernaut, probably the only one Cartoon Network had until Ben 10 came along. I remember seeing some Kim Possible merch out there too.
Dexter and Samurai Jack had limited merch available too, but really the only toys Jack managed to sell to actual children were Bionicle sets since they ran the premiere movie with those Toa TV spots as the only ad breaks.
Cartoon Network being the Hanna Barbera channel, getting new shows made through the Warner purchased remains of HB again does sort of make sense though. It fits that the new shows would be very Hb adjacent in style.
Japan has laws against foreigners pitching their shit to studio, all Demarco and Crunchyroll do is bail out Chinese (which may or may not be sourced from Saudi oil money) funding (if you see a bunch of Chinese names in the credits it means China was the one who paid for it) for projects that are already finished by the time they get to them (God of High School, Solo Leveling, Uzumaki).
It's why studios like Mir and Snipple exist.
...20 years later
zoom zoom retard
When did he start broadcasting his addiction to Hamtaro owner cunny? Because it feels like it overtook his Tiny Toons and TMS obsessions within the last six months.
So you don't get the concept of a show funded by toy companies to sell toys and made to be paid advertisements, vs a show that became popular and later had merch made for it by popularity momentum?
or are you only pretending to be retarded?
oh no, he was pushing that Tiny Toons and Hamtaro shit around here back in 2014. Also he was really bad about pretending to be a Warner animator and having AMAs until he fucked up and started namedropping TMS people again and people got pissed.
Even shows like Tom & Jerry Kids and Taz-Mania had a bigger production than PPG.
June 3, 2002, around the time puberty kicked in for him.
Laura was already 12 years old in 2002 so they were the same age, a match made in heaven.
Funny, considering it suck off Marx.
That Warner Archive thing was from a different person, he never came back.
Yes anon, those were made for networks which had insanely stiff competition for extremely limited timeslots and there was a quality standard to get past the review boards of networks. Also they were made by Warner and Universal animation, not Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon who had way waaaaayyyyyy less money to spend on a show.
Turtles, Ghostbusters, Thundercats and Earthworm Jim are really the only ones on the left I see as being overt toy commercials for themselves versus just being programming that'll plug whatever during the breaks, even with Batman and Gargoyles having toylines full of pointless armor attachments.
Nick was pissing away $500,000 dollars a episode at the time, they only cut costs once the 2008 economic collapse happened.
Warner Bros on the other hand by the late 90s was lucky to give their crew $350,000 an episode (and only Bruce Timm got that type of money), $200,000 was the default at WB by that point.
No idea about Universal but they were even cheaper then Warner Bros.
Yeah this is going to fall on deaf ears since zoom zoomers have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
This was the primary difference though. Syndicated Network affiliates were the kings of television until the late 00s and probably the 2010s. They had extremely few time slots available and non-stop competition for every single one of them. Cartoons only being available for two hours in the afternoons or three hours on Saturday morning were in high demand so studios had to go that extra mile to court network executive attention and get approved for a time slot. So shows on the average will be much higher budget, with way better looks to them overall.
Cable channels cold not even begin to compete in terms of budget. Any show made for a cable channel was going to have a tenth of the budget to it and look extremely bad in comparison.
Sorry I forgot to mention that I HATE the Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs and Hamtaro, ESPECIALLY Laura Haruna who is a boring background character. Thankfully, Zazlav is raising that hellhole to the ground. Anime peaked at (Gainax is the best!) and cartoons peaked at TADC. If there’s one thing Miyazaki hates more than AI it’s cartoon co-productions, that’s why Japan was excited to be rid of them. It is my life’s mission to take down TMS once and for all, or at least get them working on Rick and Morty: The Anime forever.
Also I’d like to publicly apologize for the many warcrimes undertaken by the Imperialist Japanese Empire during WWII, thankfully the US won and put them in their place. Now it’s time to teach them all flash so they never have to miss a deadline. Wesley Wild was right. I miss Barneyfag.
If you have to compare budgets from two separate decades, that means you are cherrypicking and have no argument.
And I love Gunbuster soooo much, Noriko is my waifu, she is a perfect example to all women everywhere.
Thats not Famicom, you're just lying.
Stolen from DeviantArt.
Nickelodeon in 2008 and a network in 1992 are two totally non-comparable things anon.
That is Famicom, you’re just spitting facts.
Soulful OC delivery
That is not Famicom.
This is Famicom
Nick was spending $500,000 dollars a episode just on the voice actors and producers while spending very little on the show itself in 1992, only John K used the budget right by getting Carbuncle to do the animation for it.
Debunked, just like TMS.
No, it's not.
Not Famicom, troll post.
You’ll see that my name is right there actually. I just got done throwing my switch in the trash because Nintendo can’t make good games.
I can confirm this is Famicom, I’ve studied him for a while. This is what he feels about these topics. Pretty sure Barneyfag is trying to discredit him here:
nice thread you got here Anon Babble
Troll post.
BarneyFag isn't in this thread... Yet.
Wow I never knew Miyazaki hated Tiny Tunes so much, but now that you say it, it makes so much sense.
BarneyFag isn't in this thread... Yet.
Why do you spout this shit, like you have ANY way of knowing that? You in a private call with Barneyfag? No? Are you in contact with him in any way? No?
Then how the fuck would you know that?
No troll post, facts.
He sent a samurai sword to Spielberg to get him to cut it out. You can see this in the japanese only commentary on the mononoke hime bluray.
He's lying and is impersonating Famicom as he will never say such things.
No, you're the troll who is stealing names and telling lies.
Shut the fuck up. Are you so autistic that you don't grasp how obvious this makes you? No random person defends another random person on Anon Babble, OR knows to be all 'nuh uh this isn't him'.
Normies do this all the time, please go outside and interact with normies.
No, normalfags don't spend hours defending strangers on Anon Babble. Normalfags post on sites like instagram, tiktok or whatever else. They don't post here.
You are not a normalfag, you are an autistic fuck.
Debunked!
YES THEY FUCKING DO!!!!
Seek help you delusional retard.
I think it's very strange that the only topics of this show I see recently are thinly-veiled pedo threads.
It has generically appealing underage female characters, whatcha expect?
Faker.
You are not a normalfag. Normalfags are spending time with their families, their lovers, and their friends. Normalfags are not defending anonymous strangers on Anon Babble.
You've been here for what? Nearly 20 years by now? At least 20 years? Yet your autistic brain still can't grasp obvious shit.
If you talk in a certain way, or obsessively defend yourself, while pretending to be someone else, then people can tell.
why are you posting about a show only five people on here will know about by this point
I think it's very strange that the only topics of this show I see recently are thinly-veiled pedo threads
i mean look at it
And it's always the shitty ones, Pepper Mills never gets lewds.
Why did toy commercials have higher production values than non-toy commercials?
least educational show ever
I remember an episode with a hurricane and a kid was spinning around in their house and going weheeee
Truther
The Disney Afternoon, Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs will like to have a word with you.
No, lies.
Because the 90s WBA artstyle is genuinely one of the best artstyles of all time. Shit ton of variety with the human designs. No wonder people make Tiny Toon porn.
I didn't like this one as much as the Animaniacs because there was no furry girl for me to ogle.
But as an adult, I appreciate it much more since I like history a lot now.
Just watch Time Squad.
You are cherrypicking a bit here.
6 months
My broddy, he's been doing this ever since LAST DECADE.
We should care why?
All better than calarts btw
I know they were before your time zoomer, but Ruegger cartoons were fantastic and he is one of the most talented creators out there.
