We are a year and a half into the new Ultimate Universe. Rank the books and talk about your likes and dislikes
/Ultimate/
i'm only reading ultimate x-men. it's good.
USM
10/10
ultimates
strong 8/10, good world building while still moving the characters along
x-men
don't care for the art, not my thing, not a weeb, so n/a
panther
6-7/10, started slow but has gotten better
wolverine
too early to tell
universe one-shot
was a nice little one and done but could've been a double ultimates issue backup or 2
USM
9/10. Strong writing, avoids a lot of common pitfalls, good character work
Ultimates
7.5/10. Decent work but is kind of heel dragging a little otherwise it'd be an 8.
X-Men
8/10. It's different which can be a pitfall but the pacing is solid even if the plot is maybe a bit too repetitive thus far and the characters are pleasant. Might be lower if it wasn't such a breath of fresh fucking air.
Black Panther
6/10. It's getting better but it really feels like a sacrificial book meant to get the line approved by *somebody* and the writing is leaning hard on the fact that it's a blank slate AU to repeat faggy bullshit that got slammed in 616. It's *acceptable" from a character and world building perspective because it's not contradicting shit but chugging panafrican hotep faggotry straight from Kilmonger's MCU fanbase and slowly angling for making Storm T'Challa's fuckbuddy is still retarded writing. But the actual issue to issue shit beyond the blatant agenda is solid enough if boring and tensionless. Art is nice which is why it's not just a 5. Can we get like, Priest or McGregor or something in to consult at least? Somebody who can actually write a good fucking BP book fuck's sake. This is some Hudlin shit.
Wolverine and Ultimate Universe: One Year In
Barely a book desu. Same with Ultimate Oneshot. Writing is fine, art is fine, but we just don't have enough fucking material to judge yet.
The Absoluteverse completely washes it, that said i like the new hot Black Cat.
I'm going to read through the first issues like I did for Absolute. I hope it's better.
i agree wolverine is really weak thus far
I've only read Spider-Man, but it's passable. I don't quite understand the hype over it.
I don't quite understand the hype over it.
literally just its better than Amazing and Peter is married to MJ. on its own its honestly just ok
Peter is married to MJ
Even this is a little grating to me. It's too cutesy/pandering. I like the family angle as a whole, though.
him being married is fine to me but sometimes they eat way too much screentime i dont care about ben and jonah's newspaper
pass
Hate all of it
1. Ultimate Spider-man
2. Ultimate X-men
3. The Ultimates
4. Ultimate Wolverine
5. Ultimate Universe
6. Ultimate Black Panther
Why?
i'm only reading ultimate x-men. it's good.
This.
My only complaint is that the last two issues have been a big psychic battle with little explanation. They jumped directly into the fight after Hisako's kidnapping and it isn't every clear if it's just Hisako having an internal mental battle or if everybody just hopped onto the astral plane and started fighting each other. It might get explained by with later issues, hopefully, but we've currently had two months where nothing but the fight has happened and it just came out of nowhere.
I'm liking ultimates way more than I expected to. Wolverine is shit. I dropped black panther long ago and have no intention on picking it back up
Wonder when there will be a time that Iron Lad tries applying meta-knowledge from 616 and it blows up in someone's face.
Ultimate Black Panther is the stupidest thing, aside from the crappy mask with the exposed mouth this is just a generic Black Panther storyline. I also don't know what they're doing with calling Wolverine "Winter Soldier" and thinking it's some cool twist. I don't like the X-Men being weebshit schoolgirls but its something new at least.
1. Spider-Man
2. Everything else
little anon is trying to be an edgy contrarian who hates everything new, don't mind him
that said i like the new hot Black Cat
she's 16 anon
Ultimates
9/10. I love the classic compressed story format.
Ultimate Spider-man
8/10. Its good.
Ultimate X-men
7.5/10. Its good, but it could use a faster pacing.
Ultimate Black Panther
I don't care.
Ultimate Wolverine
Meh/10
So...legal in 90% of the first world?
So far, I read Spider-Man #1. It's better than any of the Absolute #1s by a lot.
So she's too old for Anon Babble
Spider-Man is decent.
Ultimate X-Men is total garbage.
Everything else is just plain shit.
Still better than 616 and Absolute
It kinda did with Walker already. Tony didn't account for just how different some people would be and thought everyone taking the box would use it for good, leading Steve to fight a super roided neo nazi
You're right, too old. I personally prefer May.
Ultimate X-Men is not worth the money. There's nothing wrong with the plot or the art but the sequential paneling is not good, at all. It reminds me of Bleach during Hueco Mundo where you have whole chapters of nothing going that makes its pacing absolute glacial.
USM
Good character writing, good art, feels unique while still feeling like classic Spider-Man.
Ultimates
Basically a world building comic with mostly solid writing, wish it had better artists.
UXM
The most distinct book of the lot, even if barely feels like X-Men most of the time.
UBP
A complete bore, one of the worst examples of modern comic pacing that I can think of. Haven’t even bothered to read the latest issue yet.
UW
If it doesn’t pickup quickly, it might join UBP in the series that I dropped.
Nultimate sucks compared to the real ultimate. They can't make something epic with a great art like this 00s masterpiece. It was a different time.
This shit sucks too.
Spider-Man is a 0/10 until Richard sticks it in Black Cat Who Is Actually Black.
It's fine if you care about it. But if you're like me who didn't grow up with the two being married, then you wouldn't really care. I don't care about Peter being with MJ. I'd be fine if he was with Gwen, Liz or even Betty in whatever piece of Spidey media. And ain't no autist so I don't give a flying fuck about accuracy to the source or whatever.

The Ultimates (I'm including the one year in cause it technically a ultimate issue and said to be included in Vol 2 TPB)
I love this series and how creative the world building it is as it pulls in all kinds of marvel mythos from the Invaders, Immortal Ironfist to even the Electra miniseries by Fank Millar. Tony/Iron lad is a great character and most of the Ultimates are interesting twist or/and fantastic characterization even the New Hawkeye is enjoyable. The only downside is that it takes the anthology route where induvial character have 1 issue to shine resulting in something like Thor needing to wait +10 for his time
Ultimate spider-man
Don't need to say much it really good. Even the slow pace stuff really build upon Peter as a character and the family, the Spider-man mythos is creatively utilize
Ultimate X-men
I quite like this supernatural shojo is an interesting take utilizing lesser known X-men than relying on Wovlerine or Cyclops. slow pace is what i don't really care for just cause it drag too much across issues but at least the pay off is good
Ultimate Wolverine
Very early to say but it can move way up cause so far it has the potential to do so
Ultimate Black Panther
How do you fumble this much on Black Panther when your given almost creative freedom. The premise of the universe is not utilize, the villain flat and issues will run in circle just cause the writer want his MCU x Dune fanfic
I hate everything but x-men. Particularly deniz camp’s ultimates.
Based. You haven’t missed out on anything worthwhile.
why are you using greentext for your actual opinions and not on the book titles themselves
Gen Z's 1995-2009, bro. Do the math.
