Now that every mutant is some yaaaaaasss icon where does the franchise even go? They've got literally no villains left or reason to do anything. Why do they keep doing this nonsense I'll never know.

Hellfire Club and amoral opportunists like Shaw folded into X-Men

Emma and Magneto became "good guys" decades ago

even Apocalypse has now been retconned into a heckin gud boi who gets pussywhipped by his wife

Mystique and Destiny are now heckin valid slaaaaayyyy queen dykes who've never done anything wrong and all their self-interest and hypocrisy has been retconned

Stryfe of all people is now being retconned with a much more stupid and less cool outfit as just a guy who wants to save the future maaaaaaan

There's literally nothing to do. Hence them spinning their wheels since Krakoa. It created all these problems but only because they didn't let Hickman end it like he wanted. Now they have to deal with 95% of mutants being buddies. Only Sinister is allowed to be a villain. Oh, and they turned Cypher of all people into Apocalypse 2.0 for some reason...

The entire franchise is in the gutter. The question is, with the MCU X-Men hitting in 2027, how fast can they pivot to gud and baaaad muties again?

Are you reading Brevoort-Men, they're fighting villains every month.

Just have Magneto go mad old terrorist twat and start dropping cars on people and saying flatscan again. They already did it in Uncanny 500 over a decade ago, and characters aren't written consistently between different writers anyway.

Aren't there a bunch of evil robots trying to kill mutants? Just use them as the bad guys. Just use more robots. And random angry racist civilians with signs, maybe even an angry lynch mob.

ANOTHER Krakoa seethe thread

Looks like From The Ashes is flopping as usual...

Mystique and Apocalypse turning good was a fucking mistake. You could have let Mystique have a soft spot for Nightcrawler and Rogue while still making her an irredeemably evil cunt. The fact that so many X-Men characters were willing to work with Sinister or Apocalypse in any capacity during Krakoa was the biggest example of somebody holding a retard ball I've seen in recent memory. Somebody like, fuck, Gambit let's say, should have and in proper characterization would have made an ultimatum of either he stays or they stay, and Wolverine and several others should have done that too. Instead we just got the island of orgies for several years

Uncanny has been solid, not that a Mystique fag would have good taste

How is it possible for someone be this stupid?

The thing is, readers, and consequently writers, editors and the X-Men themselves don't remember these characters being unambiguously evil. Sinister's and Sabertooth are exempt because they're ridiculously petty horror villains, and wacky silver age Magneto is a matter of personal taste (personally I fucking love it), but Mystique, Apocalypse and the like need to do something so indefensibly awful, like start a battery farmed human eugenics program to try and bring more X-gene babies into the world, that it becomes impossible to justify heroes making niceties with them. Planet X remains the best modern X-story for this reason.

I'm surprised besides Acts of Vengance kinda they never did a thing where the Avengers villains fight the X-men and the X-men villains fight the Avengers. Though maybe blessing in disguise considering how spiteful the X-office is when writing characters from any other part of marvel

Unless you're talking solo villains like Loki and the Red Skull and not team ones, the Avengers have truly crap villains.

Actually staying on the subject, X-villains becoming nicer versions of themselves is a fucking plague, but nothing new, Loki post woobification is unrecognisable. If you insist on making him a good guy twink or trannie, at least have OG Silver Age/Simonson Loki on hand as a separate character, and claim he's from an earlier or later Ragnarok cycle, or a different fragment of Loki or someshit.

Uncanny's typical Simone, MacKay's doing good work though.

I don't mind modern twink Loki turning things around and being a proper ally to Thor as the god of stories, but you're right, the option for cunt Loki should always be present as a threat

Mystique is never a good guy.
She betrayal the team three times, and the idiots keep letting her join the team.
But Krakoa era was so idiot that they let the SHADOW KING take care of children...

Fair. I couldn't give less of a shit about twink good guy Loki for fat chicks who liked the films, but can at least respect that there are people who like that version of the character, ergo, just split him into two separate characters.

To be fair, you could probably do this with Magneto too, have the High Evolutionary or someshit say his personality's two duelling magnetic poles and shove him in two bodies, twinkly grandpa Serena Magneto who wants to babysit the New Mutants and play chess with Xavier becomes Magneto Purple, and Sliver Age druggy terrorist Magneto who wants to kick toad and fuck his daughter becomes Magneto Red. Job done

>Hellfire Club and amoral opportunists like Shaw folded into X-Men

Some people simply never change.

They retconned Shadow King so that Amahl Farouk was just yet another victim of a purely evil primordial entity.

the Avengers have truly crap villains

Your casual is showing

Avengers have "crap" villains

holy fucking incorrect opinions

It's really sad how the X-Men have been completely taken over by homos who use it to self-insert. That's cape comics in general now but the X-Men are especially bad with it.

Ultron is terrible but Kang is great.

When will she be back?

i've gotta give credit, I like both villains a lot but that was not the answer I was expecting since people seem to slag Kang off just cause of the MCU fumbling him and then claim he was bad in the comics which is very much not the case.

Sinister made sense because they needed him for the mutant Dna to be able to resurrect the dead mutants, but that still doesn't explain all of the other evil mutants running around. There was no reason to give someone like Mystique a seat on the council when she's does nothing but cause problem for the rest of mutant-kind.

IIRC the reason for Mystique being there was that Xavier wanted the council to be representative of the various ideologies and interests of mutantdom. For some reason he didn't think that that should be determined via democratic process or anything, so he just handpicked a few people based on his gut feeling.

They could have simply used time travel to grab the DNA.

Mutants and time travel tend to be a poor match.

They did syngery with that Legion show?

To be fair, you could probably do this with Magneto too

This was what Joseph was for, so we had a young, mostly heroic Magneto who wants to bang Rogue and has killed a few bad guys, but probably less than Logan, while you also had angry old terrorist Magneto, soaked with the blood of innocents, and surrounding himself with a cult that worshipped him as a god.

Somehow Marvel are so retarded that they keep trying to make Joseph the bad guy and old Magneto the 'good' guy.

Not what happened. Chuck and Magneto only put Mystique on the council to keep her under their thumb by offering her a seat of power in Krakoa but in truth, using her for off the books wetworks missions while constantly promising to bring Destiny back when they never intended to do so

Legion Farouk was just a regular evil mutant who ended up regretting his actions after he saw that his abuse of David would result in his own death and the end of the world. The retcon was likely just self-consciousness over having made an Egyptian a villain. But I suppose it is a bit like how Lenny in the first season was just a Shadow King disguise and a composite of two different people and then in the second season they decided she was a actually a real person because they liked her too much to let her go.

even Apocalypse has now been retconned into a heckin gud boi who gets pussywhipped by his wife

what

Stryfe of all people is now being retconned with a much more stupid and less cool outfit

Stryfe's original outfit was already really stupid and not that cool so if this is true it's actually kind of impressive

>Stryfe

wait didn't he give the world and entire mutant population aids?

Stryfe's original outfit was already really stupid and not that cool

anon confirmed for not being cool nor extreme

Stryfe and Omega Red were two of the few 90s villains who kept it real and never changed their costumes in decades, it's sad that they're trying to change Stryfe now.

Remember how a decade long of build up and a long line of "this villain was just scared of bigger villain" just lead to Mister Sinister with a time machine?

That helmet may look goofy but he sucks without it.

Ant-Man villain

Name me an X-Men event that wouldn't be improved with the reveal that the real villain all along was Sinister with a time machine.

The helmet is fine. The problem is that artist rarely gets the design balance right with the rest of him. Either the helmet is too wide, too flat, or the shoulders too narrow.

He has the strongest connection to Ant-man but he's from Avengers comics and is a large enough threat to typically command the teams attention.

Krakoa pushed Sinister way too fucking hard.
Like it was starting to get old by the time there were three other Essexes and the horse was dead and beaten to a pulp when they revealed the hidden, fifth, godlike Essex.

Sinister with Infinity Gauntlet

I love Gillen's Sinister almost as much as he does.

Uncanny is an absolute borefest. No idea how you can fuck up with such a cool team. Simone has all the elements to make it cool, yet she's writing her own OCs nobody cares about.

I expected being disappointed by Mackay and enjoy UXM. It was the other way around.

It's specially bad because they're the token "minority avatars" for these people. They think people that hate them for parading naked in front of kids are the same than those hating on Cyclops for being born that way.

Kang has always been underwhelming as shit.

i remember the teasing for a godlike sinsiter.
what was the end result of that?

It looks very much like Simone wanted to write a "Rogue and Gambit raise young ones" book and Brevoort forced Wolvie, Jubes, and Nightcrawler on her so the book would actually sell.

I like when they get offended about me rooting for the robots and start arguing I'd be the next to die. lmao.

Now that every mutant is some yaaaaaasss icon

Well not every mutant

Toad's life still sucks

toad trial.jpg - 600x921, 326.88K

Was that when establish that Immortus, Kang, and Rama-Tut are all the same guy at different points or was it earlier? My memories are hazy since the book seemed to have gone off the rails by that point. Like Scarlet Witch summons a meteor and you have all kinds of space shit. Also I think they had it so that Kang became Rama-Tut while other things I read had it the other way around.

And she's doing neither now. Rogue is brooding and being overall a bad teacher and Gambit couldn't give a shit about those kids.

Toad's got a whole bunch of powers including healing factor, talking to frogs, hallucinogenic/poison production and for some reason fire tongue. If he got over his mental issues, he'd be a strong contender.

Honestly it feels like this is a problem with Marvel villains in general, I mean how many have been "redeemed" or turned into anti-heroes now?

Thor lost Loki

Spiderman lost Venom

X-Men lost Magneto

I want a team of mutants who developed on the mainland during krakoa and have them serve a roll like "while you all were having fun in fantasy land we had a protect ourselves and children who got powers who ran from home" just something to showed that not all mutants think krakoa was a good idea and some despise it and think of it as the x-men running away

Sandman.

I'm surprised there aren't more mutants mad at Krakoa itself for leaving

I mean, that's just how popularity works. If a cahracter is popular than they should be seen more or even get their own book. The issue is when that character is a villian as, for obvious reasons, they can't let them be a true villian in their solos because that'd just be them taking over the world which means they're now anti-heroes.And, oddly enough, if this solo makes them REALLY popular then that means they become full on good guys. Basically Harley, Venom, etc.

We did have that, all the mutants not on the island were herded into Orchis camps.

Why do you think that as I've yet to hear anyone elaborate why? Anyway Kang's rad regardless what you think, he held a sci fi gun against a pregnant Jessica Jones and thinks Conan is one of his best opponents which is based.
