Marvel: “We admit. We fucked up majorly.”

Hydra Cap

People way overreacted to what was always just going to be a shitty twist gimmick to be undone after like 6 months desu. It's like when people pretended to be outraged over the Punisher losing his mantel only for him to (obviously) come back later on.

Then again this board is full of low IQ apes, so maybe some of them actually buy these stupid marketing gimmicks.

Hurr durr it's okay to be shitty because it won't matter.

It's like you hear the problem but don't understand the problem.

boundingintocomics

bro we should bitch and whine and give them free advertisement while still buying everything!!!

The biggest fuck you that you can do to Marvel is not giving two shits about anything they do. They've proven time and time again that they take your outrage and use it to smugly fuel themselves.

It's like Spider-man. They want you to hate it and complain. The best thing you can do is just not buy it, not consume it and ignore it.

Editor's Note: Frank did not come back.

It was bad because there was no follow-up. They were ‘'muh didn't happen’' immediately. It should have been something that really happened, is it retcon ? Yes, but everything about everyone has already been retconned.

taking headlines at face value

And you call others low IQ.

get BTFO

w-well it's not true!

Okay, retard.

I'll be there to laugh at you when the asterisk comes up.

If it was free advertising them why did Disney clamp down on Marvel so hard that they spent months trying to damage control the situation? And it was so bad Marvel STILL regrets doing it years later?

Rage bait does not fucking work for commercial products, because franchises are built on reputation. That's why PR firms are a thing, because if all you're known for is low quality bait and switches, people stop buying.

pendulum swings

uhm akchually we didn't mean it :^)

Suck my fucking cock.

well yeah it was retarded then and it's still retarded now
you can only bank on pissing people off so much before they realize you're just there to piss them off and they leave

I remember they swore it was totally for realsies you guys, it was the real Cap turning evil for real, it wasn't going to be any kind of fake out, not a clone, not mind control, not an alternate reality.
And then it turned out to be an alternate reality.

Everything I don't like is Ragebait

I mean, it was a fun Heel turn. I remember being annoyed by MCU normies talking about it, because they don't fucking read comics. But in retrospect I was a jaded and depressed young adult

It still is the real Cap. The current Cap is a magic clone made by the cube.

All the major Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-men were already clones created by Franklin Richards after the originals died.

I do understand the problem. Don't engage with any of Marvel's outrage marketing. I haven't bought a single marvel comic since ANAD Marvel

First

Bounding Into Comics

Second, I hate the idea that you can't do shit like this because social media secondaries are too retarded to understand basic fake outs and plots.

They did the same shit with superior Spiderman

Not really, the normalfags reaction was like a random person watching a pimp beating the crap out of a battered prostitute.

It's a multilevel issue. Comic readers not only pegged it as a fakeout but also the majority immediately pegged it as Cosmic Cube shenanigans, which caused Marvel to double down on it being totally real no fake outs, mind control, reality warping, etc. despite it fooling nobody reading comics. Which meant that all the secondaries, who now have their eyes on comic announcements and media, even if they don't read them, now suddenly get a big announcement from Marvel that one of the beloved MCU characters is actually a Nazi in disguise, and when pressed immediately and publicly double down on it. It was a complete failure of marketing because not only was the intended consumer uninterested, it created a massive public backlash from the secondary market which, let's be real, is where the real money is.

People way overreacted to what was always just going to be a shitty twist gimmick to be undone after like 6 months desu

You must not have read the comic. Hydra cap is the only Steve Roger’s left around. They never fixed it. Just like Tony and X-23, they’re just acting like it never happened.

boundingintocomics

That shitty outrage farm is still operating? You'd be better informed by looking at a garbage dump instead.

The thing that also annoys me is this is the kind of rage bait site that thrives on encouraging non-reading goldfish brained reactions.

You say this like Tom Brevoort didn’t post exactly what they said you ridiculous retarded faggot

That shitty outrage farm is still operating

They kicked out their lead writer because he was becoming too radical* even for them
*insufferable

Hydra cap is the only Steve Roger’s left around

No way, really??

The Frank thing is different. They clearly wanted to get rid of him, but their replacement sucked ass and everyone just wanted Frank back.

current Captain America is a copy made from what people THINK Steve Rogers is as a person iirc

the real Steve Rogers is still Captain Hydra.

shhhhhh
/co is healing

People way overreacted to what was always just going to be a shitty twist gimmick to be undone after like 6 months desu.

It speaks volumes that this kind of shitty writing happens so often that comic fans are used to it and are confused when outsiders think it sucks ass.

Shut up faggot

Sure, sure. Better get off the computer now and let momma change your diaper.

This, all the shit heads who came up with this shit idea are still there, so Marvel can still go fuck themselves.

It doesn't matter if it's a fake out or not or who knows it. What we know is that it's going to be at least a half year or longer before this shit resolves itself because modern comics are a decompressed shit show. Bullshit like this isn't some bait and switch for a single issue.

Everything you said makes me violently sick.

Here is the direct link to the part they were talking about, Brevoort's Substack and Brevoort's own words:

Here comes trouble! STEVE ROGERS: CAPTAIN AMERICA came out on May 25, 2016, marking the first time that Rogers picked up the identity of the Living Legend of World War II in a couple of years. But of course, all anybody remembers about this first issue is its final pages, in which the rejuvenated Rogers reveals that something is very wrong with him, as he reveals that he’s an operative working for Hydra. If we were over-concerned about bringing back Bucky, we were perhaps under-concerned about the impact that this moment was going to have when it hit. We knew it was going to cause controversy, that was pretty much the whole point. But fans went crazy, and not even just fans—this moment became the center of that culture wars, with any number of bad actors pointing at it as evidence of some manner of moral decay that had infected the entire industry.

Thing were serious enough that I received death threats for allowing this to happen—I had to cancel an appearance at that year’s Baltimore Comic Con due to a threat that was sent from the Baltimore area and that the police we consulted considered a legitimate threat and not just some blowhard spouting off. Fun times! The person who got hit the hardest was probably writer Nick Spencer, and most of those who were angry didn’t want to hear that this was the first move in a carefully-constructed storyline that was going to play out over the next 18 months or so. It was a big, brassy story—maybe too big at certain points—and one that Nick almost lost control of at one point or another. But ultimately, we were able to keep the whole thing together long enough to land the plane in a mostly-satisfying way in the SECRET EMPIRE crossover that came the following year. Lost in the crowd a little bit, but probably thankful for it in this instance, was artist Jesus Saiz, who turned in some seriously great artwork on this issue and those that followed.

Kill yourself
You too, anyone who says "Hurr Durr" unironically in 2025 NEEDS to get raped.

to be a shitty twist gimmick to be undone after like 6 months desu.

The gimmick lasted for more than a year.

It's kind of why the indignance to defend Secret Empire is hilarious to me, it's coming from people who are too entrenched in the comics industry and don't understand why normies would react differently.

Actually Hydra Cap is still around afaik, he was the guy who stole Scott's Krakoan Suit to make mutants look bad and was released at the end of the Krakoa saga.

Well then that makes look stupider then

6 months

Yeah that's the problem retard that's way too long

And it turned out it was longer than six months!
