It's been 2 years and I still don't get what they were going for here

It's been 2 years and I still don't get what they were going for here

is antagonistic to Miles the entire movie

canon event scene happens

Miles see that Peter B lost a Captain Stacy

suddenly Jess chimes in

"and me too"

as if the audience is suppose to care

Why do we care? She's been a bitch the whole movie? Even after that scene, she's a bitch. Then she tells Gwen to capture Miles and not listen to her gut cuz "Gwen we uhhhh got canon events and shiet"

Was there something left on the cutting room floor or in the concept stages of this character? I am so lost. At least Miguel has more of a reason to be a dick to Miles.

still don't get what they were going for here

oh i think you do understand, and this type of reply is exactly what you wanted.

I find it funny that Gwen wanted this walking baby blender to adopt her. Sure, what a great mom she'd be, heavily pregnant, riding a bike and doing flips and summersaults.
But pube haired strong independant black woman can't be a bad person right?

Lol, calling me racist cuz the movie is weirdly paced and characters are all over the place but they ignore a central character. But she literally has no reason to be such a bitch to Miles.

But she literally has no reason to be such a bitch to Miles.

Sounds like Anon Babble's kind of girl

all the spider people but like 10 witchhunt the black man

i never once called you racist or implied that

You're being a bitch because the character happens to be a black woman, but I don't get what they were going for, not with her appearance, but how her character was portrayed by her actions, retard.

Why would Spectacular Peter go after Miles tho?

I've said this a few times before but if Miguel is wrong about Canon events then the next movie will be shit. Straight up. You cannot present a trolley problem and say "actually there was a third lever that makes everything ok."

White Jessica did the same thing

Let's be fair. Gwen doesn't have the best judgement. If anything maybe that was a way of telegraphing that maybe Jessica sucks as a person and shouldn't be trusted.

Obviously. Miguel is coping on a cosmic level because he lost a family. He went to an entire universe and replaced someone. That would obviously cause problems. The other events are his cope. You could save the captains or any Uncle Ben and the multiverse would not fall apart. But lmao we have to wait 2 more years for part 3 cuz Phil Lord is a moron

Well, if you watch the rest of that scene, you'll see the point they were showing was that every spider-person there had lost people in a similar pattern, thus showing that Miles' life is destined to play out on a similar path. Bringing attention to her specifically was not the purpose of the scene.

Obviously it is, but why does the character chime in who has done nothing but be antagonistic to Miles and we, the audience do not care for? If it just showed her in the line up, fine, but why give her a line and a little more prominence?

I feel like the whole movie kind of dropped the ball. The original Spider-Verse was pretty much perfect, but this one went too big and ended up burning out as a result.

Kinda stupid when like three of the characters they use for that..havent.

She's not meant to be an antagonist. The audience is supposed to like her because Gwen likes her.

She's an amalgam of 3 separate spider heroines

The original Electric Company comic black Spider-Woman

Given Jessica Drew's costume and throw in that pregnant shit no one liked

Given Silk's organic web powers that are spin from the fingertips

whatever helps you sleep at night anon.

They do a poor job at that then!
You know what you're doing, anon. Stop being a pussy

You could save the captains or any Uncle Ben and the multiverse would not fall apart.

Except we saw in the movie that India Spider-Man's universe was collapsing. So either Canon Events are real, or Miguel is fucking up things to make them look like they're real, which would just be retarded. They set themselves up an impossible problem to fix.

What would Jess's Captain Stacy even be, she was raised by HYDRA.

i dont have an image of eyes rolling, so just imagine it in emoji or whatever people like you do

I'm still shocked that no one in-universe or out ever commented on her being heavily pregnant but still going on missions.

This shit legit felt like a weird fetish thing being framed as empowering.

Except we saw in the movie that India Spider-Man's universe was collapsing

The way the universe falling apart looks feels like it was because of the Spot and not the canon event. It looks different than the recording of the dimension that Miguel was in falling apart.

uhhh I tried to call you racist and sexist and am not backpedaling

ok, anon. Go back to tumblr

The way the universe falling apart looks feels like it was because of the Spot and not the canon event.

That'd be such a fucking coincidence that I don't think anyone would accept that for writing. "See? You killed this guy, and ruined a canon event, thus destroying the universe." "No, actually, the universe starting to collapse has nothing to do with Canon Events, it's actually due to a completely separate issue that simply aligns with your beliefs of what would happen if this person didn't die."

I guess because it's all black and splotchy, it feels like a Spot thing. I could be wrong, obviously. He became all powerful before he left that universe, so that was how I felt. Whatever it is, we'll see.

She's so ugly it's unbelievable. Do black men actually find this attractive?

He's wrong but the whole canon event thing is stupid

Despite her being a completely different character, she still represents one of the "old guard" of Spider-Man offshoots that existed before Spider-Verse was really a thing. So she, along with Miguel and Ben Reilly, get relegated into being the antagonists to prop up the rest

The entire concept of canon events is retarded for a multitude of reasons, but the most damning is that it's predicated on the idea that every other version of Spider-Man follows 616 Peter's in such a cookie cutter fashion, when the irony of it all is that it really only applies to Miles
Anyone who actually thinks it's a plot point worth engaging with is retarded and isn't worth your time

It’s stupid enough that she’s being Spider-Man while pregnant but she doesn’t even wear a full mask.

This bitch served zero purpose other then being Miguel’s lackey, pathetic.

Given Silk's organic web powers that are spin from the fingertips

Erm ackshually it's more likely to be a reference to the Ultimate version of Jessica Drew

Hey just shut up and don't think about that. All Spider-Men are the same except for Miles ok, he is special and breaks the mold

Because the directors want you to know how Miles is da best spida-mahn.

And like said, nobody liked that shit except comic bloggers calling themselves journalists.

It's dumb because the majority of the Spider-Society are just variants of Peter Parker

Of course when they all compare notes they're going to all have a dead Uncle Ben or lose Captain Stacy. That's just correlation vs causation
Even Spider-Man India is just Peter through a couple layers of paint

It's not that deep.

It's dumb for a lot of reasons, but yes that's one of them. It certainly doesn't help that the movie wants to have its cake and eat it too so you barely get any versions of Peter with speaking roles, despite him being the majority. It's a really really stupid plot device discussed by stupid people that want to feel smart

Is the baby anyone of relevance in comics?

Not really. In Spider-Girl Jessica's kid went through an arc of being the new Spider-Man which put him into conflict with Mayday a bit which was pretty good. In current comics I think he got aged up and became a Hydra agent or something, I dunno Jess has never had a good comic
