Cartoons fall off the wagon when there's a small child population and down economy (ie. 70s and 2010s) and are good when there's a good economy and a large child population (50s-60s and 90s).
If they actually had the knowhow to pick something that came out 10+ years ago, then yes, there are a lot more options than there were in the 70s.
