Worm Thread

Greetings Anon, I am Doctor Mother. I represent a group called Cauldron. A group dedicated to preserving what’s left of the Boardiverse from the Entity’s wrath

The best parts of early Ward was when the story would focus entirely on Rain. I didn't really like Victoria very much at first and never really did by the end. Also Worm was a better concept but suffers in writing quality and some execution but is still better than Ward despite Ward being better written objectively.

NOT Anon Babble
FUCK OFF

Bro don’t you realize where we are? The rules are breaking down
It’s anarchy

I was a pretty big wildbow fan and read all of pact+worm+twig but worm was always the dumbest fucking one and Alexandria's death will never not be the single most forced asspull death in all of capeshit fiction, largely because the author was a hack who realized he had made his main character way too fucking underpowered relative to the threats she was facing but unlike the X-Men or whatever he couldn't asspull secondary mutations or something so he just made the equivalent of Ant-Man drowning Superman with ants work. Ignore the part where this person can survive on the fucking sun, or even the actual physical logistics of (remind you) completely mundane and non-superpowered insects and spiders physically making their way towards this person who has Kryptonian tier physiology.

the Siberian was also turned into a loser jobber for no reason with the literally unstoppable and immortal villain defeated because he conveniently put his real body at risk in a fucking van in broad daylight..Man the more that I think about it the more I realize this guy's kind of s fucking hack. Still mad about Pact's dogshit ending too.

i just don't understand what alexandria was trying to accomplish. genuinely was it suicide? was she trying to show skitter how much she valued her friends?

Entrapment for shits and giggles? is she just retarded?

apart from some of the rain stuff i don't ward gets good until goddess take over. goddess take over is great. ward is very different from worm despite having the same setting. taylor is the cause of conflicts and problems in worm whilst victoria is just forced to put up with a series of mind control villains.

Lmao

Wormfags really need to noose themselves.

Who can beat Contessa in a fight?

Worm is a very jank story. The writer couldn't sell his plot points to himself and ended up creating a railroad that really undermined the emotional impact of every other character.
That and he writers interesting arcs on a conceptual level but when you actually read them it's mostly just frustrating.
Characters like Danny, Shadow Stalker should have died and were only spared to subvert the audience's expectations. If they died there would at least be a sense of tragedy and catharsis to their stories but we got was a bunch of dull interactions and a "look at how the early story was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things".
Also Taylor leaving for the Wards was so monumentally retarded I dropped the book for months.

Imp.

just don't understand what alexandria was trying to accomplish. genuinely was it suicide? was she trying to show skitter how much she valued her friends?

The consensus was that she wanted Skitter to attack or fully submit to her so she could get Birdcaged or used as a Cauldron operative. The problem was that once she let herself be hit by Skitter's suffocation the silk and insects could not be removed by breathing with super strength like she expected, she panicked and entered a coma.
Either that or she genuinely wanted to kill herself and this was the one way she could do that without undermining Cauldron's plans.

The actual answer is the writing is shit.

iirc Wildbow once explained that Alexandria is really at reading emotions and picking up of physical cues and tells, but Taylor expresses those kinds of thing subconsciously through her swarm. Alexandria was just trying to make Taylor more pliable, but to her, Taylor came of as a cold and sociopathic. She didn't realize how much trauma she was inflicting on Taylor with her threats.

The only thing Amy did wrong was not doing what she did to her sister to her mother also.

Manton was a crazy person by that point anon, also being manipulated by jack slash
crazy people don't make good decisions while under the master effects of a villain

Was Worm good? I sometimes see references to it in CYOA smut, but I never bothered looking deeper.

The Simurgh, Contessa, and the third entity all have precognition plots going on on top of each other
the entire plot was building a weapon to kill zion
taylor is the weapon and everything in story happens by the design of these precogs
even taylor joining the wards was a direct result of a precognitive telling her to do it

Fuck no, its complete garbage. The fans of it online are almost as obnoxious as the bronies.

it's so cool that cauldron has a horseshoe for their logo...

It's about as good as a random fantasy novel you've never heard of that costs 7.99ish at a used book store, but it's free and longer. There's better stuff to read on Anna's Archivel, but it isn't the worst thing you could be doing with your time.

building a weapon to kill zion

oy vey...

So many crossover stories between the two

What the hell man

Worm was too good. Ward was shit I dont give a fuck about anyone in that dam therapy group. Hate how all of the Unidersiders are just Jobbers now

Ain’t this shit just deconstruction crap that tries to be unique and interesting because “lmao, realism with edge” with shitty Mcs like Taylor?

The only thing I see from this was the world Enders or whatever.

I will admit Taylor was not a very engaging protagonist. While Victoria is a bitch, at least she wasn't having as much smoke blown up her ass like Taylor frequently does and I found Armsmaster to be more fitting as the actual protagonist in Worm. Not that I have an issue with villain protagonists, but Taylor is just not as engaging. I mean even Billy Butcher was as awful of a person as Homelander but he was supposed to be viewed as such as time went on, not to be written for a self-inserting YA novel that has a setting comparable to a sci fi Vampire the Masquerade.

I meant superhero Evangelion, not really sci fi Vampire the Masquerade

The only thing I see from this was the world Enders or whatever.

Endbringers and yeah there kind of Stupid too

Time has vindicated worm. It's been a decade and still hits good.

Wildbow only made Worm for to shill his DND knock off Weaver Dice

Endbringers and yeah there kind of Stupid too

They're fine.

That sounds retarded.

kys

Autism, pure and simple.
A friend of mine did a campaign off that years ago. It could have been done using Mutants and Masterminds

April Fools is over
No comic

So why no movie or show?

Imagine having your superman expy become evil simply because a villain says "Have you ever tried doing evil shit?"
