My god, she is perfect for Zuko

My god, she is perfect for Zuko

Why did they break up? I don’t read the comics.

I ship her with Aang actually.
And I ship Zuko with Toph.

they didn't break up because the comics aren't real

Her and Aang are very funny together.

zuko and toph

I get it

Aang and Mai

I don't get it desu

built for birthing an entire dynasty

zuko fumbles her

why

Maikofags are actually full blown cucks

it all makes sense now.jpg

Mai is objectively the worse thing to happen to zuko as a character

Got retconned to near unrecognizable levels

Is now a bug lady who was totally never actually friends with azula (god knows what that means for her friendship with Ty lee)

suddenly gives a shit about 'muh imperialism bad'

still acting a like a cunt to zuko for doing the same thing she was doing

got off scott free for committing treason because zuko has no spine

Ty lee and Not-Azula's-replacement basically exist as maiko shippers in the comic

the only fanfare from her garbage comic that people cared about was the meta panel dunking on azula, which caused the author to spergout on bluesky

the picrel throwback just reminds viewers of the last time Zuko was actually well written (when he was as far from mai as possible)

Mai is approaching Sam Manson level bad.

Grumpy Girl + Cheerful Guy is a great combo.

Bryke discovered they can make endless cash via shipping drama.

The day Bryke became self-aware about shipping is the day Avatar became doomed. It's poisoned everything Bryke have done with Avatar since then, it even degraded Book 3 of ATLA.

This. According to those comics, they had Forklifts, and they showed its real life accurate internal mechanisms, making it more advanced than any technology showed in the sequel, Legend of Korra. That Forklift was the most advanced piece of technology in the franchise. Even the Giant Robot was just Metal Benders moving the Robots limbs from inside.

Book 3 wasn't impacted too bad by it. They didn't realize they could milk it until the series was mostly finished.
The comics and Korra are what really suffered from the shipception of Bryke. It was surreal watching them in real time going from aloof showrunners that just sort of poked fun at the idea, and then morph into fanfiction-tier writers that substitute good writing with will-they-won't-they slop.

Remember when they mocked the Zutara ship and teased them with edited footage? Those were the good days

Sam Manson level bad.

Sam was always a terribly written character

:(
They took three traits that don't mix at all and smashed them into a single character

There's some much I hate about this and the entire lack of knowledge about industrialization in the late 19th century, like they didn't even try to make it fit with the technology level of the world. Where the fuck was it manufactured? Who makes the fucking rubber for the wheels? It can operate in sub zero temps? Seen better world building in Penders slop.

Looks at the twitter screenshot and it is just a headcanon trying to explain why Zuko only has one child instead of trying to make as many as he can or at least an heir and spare.

Let met guess, you ship Jinko, Ty Luko, Zucest, or some form of a Zuko harem?

Also, how do you know the twitter user in that screenshot ships Maiko?

>Is now a bug lady who was totally never actually friends with azula (god knows what that means for her friendship with Ty lee)

Why do people think the show implied or stated Azula was ever actual friends with Mai or Ty Lee? I like the headcanon that there was a real, albeit toxic friendship that turned into an abusive friendship as Ozai's influence and Azula's responsiblities grew. But show gives just as much, if not more support, to the idea Mai and Ty Lee were never friends with Azula, only ladies in waiting who humored Azula because they were to fearful to do so otherwise.

The problem isn't forklifts existing. Tech in Avatar is pretty schizophrenic.
The problem is that it looks so modern and out of place in the setting, unlike the trains and the giant drill. It's like having a subaru next to the cars based on Ford Model T's in Korra. Complete lack of care for the aesthetic or internal logic of the world.

Complete lack of care for the aesthetic or internal logic of the world.

Does anything about the Yang comics suggests they cared about consistent worldbuilding or characterization? Forklift is just a symptom of bigger problems.

Let me guess, Dragomer or NWN7 got this screenshot from Shitter?

just let Zuko cheat on Mai with Ty Lee or Suki already

She's a cunt and Zuko is an asshole. Makes sense they drove each other away.

just let Zuko cheat on Mai with Ty Lee or Suki already

Suki is in a committed relationship with Sokka and even if Ty Lee was attracted to Zuko, which she isn't, she wouldn't betray Mai like that.

because he loved her and isn't a martial rapist like his old man

isn't a martial rapist like his old man

martial rapist

How does one become proficient in rape-fu?

I hear there is a fantastic dojo in India

It's funny, because forklifts have been around for a really long time, so it's not like ether aren't examples they could copy that would fit into the technological period.

I'm surprised neither of them had a conversation on being former part of royalty, parent problem or having physical defects. Didn't even have to be romantic just something to bond over. Like their mutual friendship with Iroh.

I wonder if Season 3 was longer if they would have a life changing field trip together? Also, what you have included if you could add as many episodes to S3 as you'd like.

True but I just find them so interesting together.

Aside from Toph's life changing field trip with Zuko, I would love for Toph to have a fight/spar with Bumi. Both of them being childish and strong earthbenders they would have been a great pairing. The dragon turtle granting energybending to Aang to remove bending should be replaced with Mai and Ty Lee joining the Gaang instead. Aang will get the idea of removing from Ty Lee's chi blocking and improve upon it by making the blocking permanent.

The size of it is the most schizotech part of the set, honestly. You could bullshit a boxy design, but that's still over fifty years of intense industrial revolution design overnight. Early versions of technology are not sleek or mass-produced. It's bulky and has to be assembled "by hand" until the infrastructure and demand exist to make for mass production. Think about how many wheels you need to sell to make it financially practical to mass-produce wheels in the first place.
It's too clean.
I get that they were trying to make a point, but that's a pretty glaring tech jump.

so she is capable of smiling

It is a little-known fact that the true reason for the Fire Nation's military dominance was not Sozin's Comet, but their pioneering of pallet-based logistics.

I mean, they were logistically leaps and bounds ahead of the other nations, IIRC...

You learn Slaking style from Grand Master Jimbo

But show gives just as much, if not more support, to the idea Mai and Ty Lee were never friends with Azula

maybe if you watched the show with your feet. Mai lept for joy to join up with Azula in omashu after showing complete indifference to her brother getting snatched, and azula hadn't even mentioned Zuko so Mai has no reason to be so enthusiastic. She even cracks a joke the minute she see's azula. It's complete revisionism to make mai seem like she never was friends with azula. Not even this comic can fully commit to that when it still trys to have mai be sympathetic to azula

Young_Ty_Lee.jpg - 333x250, 15.81K

This. With Mai amd Azula I could see how people would see that relationship as geniune friendship at the start but with Ty Lee it was blatantly obvious she only followed Azula out of fear and self preservation. Which makes the fact that space many people ship them all the more baffling. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out Ty Lee geniunely hated Azula for a long time. That's really gonna piss of Azula fags.

I wonder if Season 3 was longer if they would have a life changing field trip together

Length wasn't really why they didn't have one. Zuko simply didn't have anything to offer Toph and Toph didn't have any pressing storylines that needed to be resolved. The only unresolved thing Toph had at the end was her relationship with her parents but that wasn't really urgent and there's nothing Zuko could offer to help smooth things over, he had no connections in the earth kingdom and he's probably the last person to ask for advice with parents. Sokka needed to rescue his dad? Aang needed to learn fire bending and Katara's animosity towards Zuko needed to be resolved. That's why those episodes existed. Zuko was necessary for those storylines.
