Jungledyret Hugo/Hugo the jungle animal/Jungle Jack

This movie was cute af. Its just about the correct amount of fluff and songs. I wanna adopt the animals. I liked the ghetto cats scenes too. And i thought the furries were character personality spinning again about "slutty fox!!!" But apparently this didnt come out of no where and i can see what gave them the idea.

Watch the danish version on dailymotion with english subtitles. English dub cuts out "racist and sexist" scenes and censors the characters HUGGING among other bs

Did she just abandon her little brothers in both movies when rushing to the port and jumping on the train?

Yep

"racist and sexist" scenes

Jungle fever is a serious matter

"I bought an indian."

"Ew! No! I don't want an Indian to be my pet!"

I wanna adopt the animals

C'mon now, you know you're supposed to walk away with the message that they belong free in the wild

Both movies deserve Blurays, secong movie deserves a score CD.

I know lol ill settle for befriending

Adorable and hilarious

Yeah i forgot some animation actually used to show shit piss puke and swearing. Some of the lines in this are wild and you dont see anyone portrayed in the down bad way rita is anymore

The skateboard music number and underwater escape sequence rocked

I've been meaning to re watch this since Anon Babble reminded me it exists back in 2006.

Danish animation was doing well at the time, I figure

Not precisely danish, since so much of euro productions were collaborations (small nations don't have that much money and talent). But yeah, 90s and early 2000s had Denmark make some cool toons.

Anon, if you're still here, did you mean it exactly? Like, you did not rewatch the movies since 2006??

And every attempt to draw it was shitty except like 3.

It should be noted, of course, that the design for Hugo was originally conceived by Carl Quist Møller, the son of Hugo's inventor Flemming Quist Møller, who co-directed the movie with Stefan Fjeldmark. Carl, who also ended up animating on the first feature, has a very nice description of how Hugo was originally designed for a radio play and an illustrated children's book on his own website. And during his studies for the book illustrations Carl actually animated a short movie with Hugo in a somewhat crude but charming style. The film was run on Danish television in 1987 as an ad for the radio play.

At first because I could only find crap quality old tape rips, since then it's just that my backlog is too large.

I watched it on VHS back in the 90s so many times, even caught it on TV once or twice (on german channels from our satellite). I only remember the broad strokes of the plot, and that the ending was incredibly bittersweet (Hugo makes it home, but has to leave Rita). And the second movie was just more of the same, but with a different ending which just wasn't as good (Rita comes with Hugo and they dance in the jungle).

and they dance in the jungle

They get on a southbound train, but only reach the jungle in the TV series

I haven't seen either of them in 30 years. The point is that one is bittersweet memorable ending, the other is just a nothingburger. That's what I remember only.

oh and the title song. That one is still ringing in my ears after all that time.

Is he gonna grow bigger with age?
Or stay a junglejacklet and ride on Rita's back?

I think he's like a dwarf big foot

Well, you know what they say about big feet...

Can't get over how precious these two are together

Anon Babble always liked Rita.

The soundtrack's surprisingly good and unique. It's what I remember most from the movie apart from the meatball dude and the hot psycho lady

Yes

bobhseaux

Liking a comic full of furry incest

hugo x rita is le bad and disgusting

It takes a lot of effort into being such a colossal faggot

I never really saw the sequel desu. The first one used a lot of synths and harmonica sounds that really pulled off this weird, lonely and city-y soundtrack

I really wish to find more movies like this

I luckily bought a dubbed DVD so I can personally enjoy it but for some reason there's no sample of the first one's soundtrack online. Basically very dreamlike and moody, transitions between a very pleasant jungle theme and a cold cityscape very well with xylophone, harmonica and synth music.

he should tie up rita and tickle her haha wouldnt that be funny

Always loved it for the same reason. I already hate cities for my own reasons but this movie makes me hate them a little more.
