What the fuck were they thinking?
What the fuck were they thinking?
How would they know a lite brite toy would be confused for a bomb.
Post-9/11 trauma.
9/11 killed cartoons
At last I truly see.
I'm not here to talk about this thread. I'm only here to answer questions on 80's hairstyles. Mullets are good ones.
I can't decide if it was this or the financial crash that's the reason that cartoons started being shit in 2008
Quite possibly the best news conference ever, treating the media like the clowns they are
What the fuck is he up to now?
underfist would've gotten greenlit if it wasn't for this causing the former CN president to resign
They weren't.
And I don't mean that in "wow these dumbasses didn't consider the reaction to this" way.
I mean that they weren't thinking about it because it had already been done successfully, without incident or overreaction, in multiple other cities before Boston freaked out about them.
To be completely honest how is a random LED display with no text supposed to promote a movie?
This. The person who called it in as a bomb threat should have been prosecuted for criminal stupidity.
AND I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I'M FREE!
Dzokhar did nothing wrong.
They over estimated people's intelligence. Remember, they elected Bush a second time even thou he stole the first election.
And now they voted for him again in spirit
That people wouldn't be retarded enough to mistake a lite brite marketing gimmick for a bomb? They had these things in other cities already and there was no problem until they got to fucking Boston.
The Republican judges on SCOTUS stole it for him.
Who has the youtube to this interview?
People from Boston were stupid but not THAT stupid.
AND I WON'T
FORGET
THE MEN WHO DIED
FOR BUTTSEX IN GHANNY!
wtf is wrong with you
The idea is to raise people's curiosity and make them feel rewarded when they finally make the connection during other advertisements.
it's boston. of course they're that stupid. the elected the asshole, didn't they?
Boston couldn't detect an actual bomb and dozens of people were killed and dismemebered because of it.
that boston wasnt more retarded than the united states. and they were wrong
how the fuck did people confuse this shit for a bomb?
it does have a bit of a "terrorist manifesto" vibe to it, granted at that point anybody should have been able to point out it was Aqua Teen characters.
Surely nobody will see a series of lite-brite toys with characters from an ongoing cartoon show with hundreds of thousands of viewers and assume it's part of a terrorism plot just because it has a battery. Boston hasn't used lead pipes for its drinking water in years!
They were thinking it would be a fun bit of guerilla marketing.
Would it make more sense to go back in time and stop 9/11, or 1/31?
Which is easier: explaining to Boston police officers what Aqua Teen is, or stopping two hijacked planes from hitting the twin towers?
If you stop 9/11 you kill 2 birds with one stone (at least in this case, where the objective is to stop the former cartoon network president from resigning) but it's also way too big an event to stop, what if stopping it causes an all out nuclear war? I would rather stop those guys from putting up the cartoon signs honestly
Oh shit. It's the anniversary. Sadly I had just moved outside of Boston, so I didn't quite see it first hand. I was living just outside and heard the shithow on the local news and from friends still in Boston. One of the sites was on a comic shop which would become my regular shop once I moved back in town.
A friend of mine took this pic at a nearby MBTA stop a few days after.
Plus a local bar near them had made an imitation flat light up sign, but I think police asked them to take it down. No fun allowed in Boston
OLD people from Boston were stupid
ftfy
Some dumbfuck post-9/11 paranoid boomer saw it outside a bus stop and thought it was an IED.
Most college kids, even if they didn't know ATHF, knew it was just a goofy promo for something. Hell, MIT would do pranks with signs and shit all the time. Surprised they didn't assume that, but I guess enough college kids knew ATHF. That local comic shop knew what it was and took it down once they heard police were taking them out.
it was a terrorist manifesto... FROM THE MOON
muh it was Boston
muh it was le executives
How about we blame the guy who was putting them up and then literally ran away when it started to unfold rather than telling the authorities what the fuck was going on?
It was actually two guys.
They kinda look the part, especially the white guy in dreads.
Of course, multiple cities had these up in them. Multiple people in multiple cities were hired for this marketing gimmick. Only Boston had people panicking. Why didn't the marketing company that made the LED displays to begin with call the Boston police and city call?
Oh wait... it was Jan 31, not March.
Well, it is the two month eighteen year anniversary. Sure that's a thing. Makes as much sense as those being bombs.
just banter m8
