Oh come on.
I just watched this and it was a lot of fun.
Surely we can do better than that.

At first I thought Arcane mogged it.

But then Arcane season 2 happened. Dota 2 Dragonsblood was batshit in many ways and missed some opportunities to tie it back to the games (like how the ancients repeat time, NOT Invoker), but overall it improved in quality as the show went on.

Also Lina / Fymryrn's feet were oddly erotic

This show is so underrated but it problem is the lack of identity.
Anime fans says that the show is an anime imitation, and cartoon fans think that looks too "anime" for their taste

Eh, I liked Arcane act 1 but after that I feel like it wasn't that engaging.
And I didn't enjoy season 2 at all.

Hmm I dunno about this really, I feel like it's just a cool fantasy Mir show.
I really liked the identity it had with how the magic/dragons and enchanted items worked and the other lore with elves and gods.
But yeah being too anime for cartoon fans is probably why it's not as popular as it could've been, that and being tied to dota.
Should've just dropped the source material connection in title like blood of zeus did and called it dragon's blood.

The showrunner was shopping around for an existing fantasy IP to piggyback off of for a scrript idea he had. Dota ended up being a bit of a dream IP because of how hands off Valve was and they even surprised him by actively incorporating ideas and concepts into the game on their own (He was just as surprised by Marci's announcement as everyone else lol). Honestly he did a lot better than expected after Netflix kneecapped the runtime of episodes, twice. First two seasons were written for 30 minute episodes, season 1 was cut to 25 minute episodes and season 2 was cut even more to 22 minutes. Only season 3 was written with the 22 minute long episodes in mind

That's good for him then.
It didn't feel like it was cut down in season 1 at all, I feel like it was paced really well and the ending was great despite leaving on a cliffhanger.
Season 2 was a bit more weirdly paced but I actually felt like there was more unnecessary stuff that could've been cut even more desu.

He did (almost) everything right.

Yeah, there was a lot of fluff in season 2 that could be cut out for the sake of runtime but considering he was actively writing season 3 and having to record season 2 at the same time, he simply did not have the time to do a pass over the script. He was running against the clock since I think he knew that Netflix was going to start canning animation projects
